Quite a power-metaly year for me.
1. Gamma Ray - Land of the Free II This one I love to bits. A perfect heavy metal record. So catchy.
2. Helloween - Gambling with the Devil The best Helloween album since Keepers pt 2? Or at least since Better than Raw.
3. Rob Rock - Garden of Chaos The best Rob Rock solo album. Tracks 3-5 are massive.
4. Mystic Prophecy - Satanic Curses One of the best and most aggressive Mystic Prophecy CD's.
5. Chris Caffery - Pins and Needles The spiritual successor to Doctor Butcher.
6. Axxis - Doom of Destiny A follow-up to my favourite Axxis release, Paradise in Flames, and it has all the same ingredients incl. Lakonia.
7. Powerwolf - Lupus Dei My favourite Powerwolf tune is on this album - Prayer in the Dark.
8. Nightwish - Dark Passion Play No Tarja, no Floor, but the pop metal tunes are super catchy.
9. Therion - Gothic Kabbalah My first Therion disc, and I saw them on this tour. I think it's epic and memorable.
10. Pink Cream 69 - In10sity I had to include this over the closest competition (Saxon, Anvil) because I just used to play this so much. It was perfect for running. I love David Readman's voice.

I really thought this would have been a better year in metal. In hindsight, I was doing well that year, I just assumed there was a lot of good to great releases in 2007. I was buying a lot of old school thrash that year.

I really liked Symphony X's Paradise Lost. It was the first album of theirs that I got into. I also really enjoy Saxon's The Inner Sanctum, though I wasn't into the band at the time and only heard the album over a decade later.
Overall this was not a memorable year of music for me. Tesla was one of my favorite bands and I was a bit disappointed with the two covers albums. Now I appreciate them a bit more, but it seemed a bit overkill and a lot of the songs were not reworked in any special fashion.
