Stumbled across this band the other day and I was mightily impressed. My little description in the subject title is only partially accurate, but I definitely hear a lot of Sabbath and Alice Cooper in the music. That mix is most evident in the song "Madhatter." Anyone ever heard this band before?
I'm already sadly aware that it won't be so easy finding their albums. Haha. Any help would be appreciated. I think I'd really dig this band. I've been listening to the four MySpace songs non-stop since finding their page.
Check them out:

They sound awesome! I found this page from amazon that has there albums on it. I think this is them anyways:
You should check out this band too if you like these guys. There called The Muggs and they were on that Next American Band show on FOX the other night. If you like Mountain and Blue Cheer, these guys are pretty cool.
Dude, I am seriously loving these guys (at least these 4 songs). Good find on that Amazon link. I was spelling their named as Big Elf at first, didn't think to re-look for their albums under Bigelf (one word).
I ordered Closer To Doom. Thanks, bro!

They sound cool. How did they do? Not quite the same as Bigelf, but they sound solid enough. Their CD is requested on lala. Bet it wasn't until the other night. Haha.

Huh...looks like I either missed it or they just added a fifth song, their John Lennon collaboration with...Christina Aguilera!
She should really do a rock album!

No problem. Yeah they're not quite the same sounding, but in the same vein as having a retro sound that rocks. They moved on to the second round so will see how it goes.

I've had "Closer to Doom" for quite awhile. The lead song, thier demo "Fight" is a little misleading; as it's heavier than the rest of the album. They're an LA band, with a definite Beatles influence to my ears, but a more retro sound, rather than glammy like Enuff-z-nuff etc. Quite a bit of Mellotron I believe. But there is some Sabbath influence there too for sure. Unique.

LA? Who? Bigelf? Aren't they from Sweden or something?

No, still based in LA. They hit big in Sweden a few years ago, and have recorded there. I wonder if they've gone louder again since Closer to Doom? They still have the mellotron and the Beatles references though.

Bigelf is from frickin' LA and their albums aren't in stores? That's retarded.

Everyone knows that Californians are more retarded than Swedes, so there you go.

I like what I've heard on the MySpace page. I'd probably pick this one up.

I'm gonna place an order for an album, EP and single later this week. I found a place that has them for like $26 total, and they're overseas. All the American sellers are selling these like they're expensive imports, which may be the case, but they're cheaper from this store.

So I found someone on Soulseek last night that had three albums: Hex, Closer To Doom, and Money Machine. After listening to them for a bit today, I think the Sabbath comparison can be taken away. It's there in some songs, but not nearly as much as I expected. These guys probably have more in common with the Beatles than Sabbath. Though these albums do seem very cool. LOTS of synth!
I got Closer To Doom on the way to me now, so I'm glad I dig it. Haha.

Exactly, you got them nailed. It's too bad because I think they dissapoint people who expect heavier; but they are really an interesting band. TWO Mellotrons at once!

Yeah, I can see people being disappointed that just heard a song like "Madhatter" and make a purchase. They're definitely not that heavy. But seriously, this is some really solid songwriting here. I'm loving it! I still can't believe they're from LA. Haha.

I can hear it. I'm also going to add Pink Floyd to the list. Haha. Listen to "Bats In The Belfry" on their MySpace page. You can't deny it. I foresee these guys becoming a favorite of mine.

Hey now! Looks like Hex is getting a re-release tomorrow. Newbury Comics has it listed under their new releases for $9.99. Sweet!

They're alright. Nothing that great though. I'll take Goatsnake, Trouble and Kyuss over them in the stoner dept.

Kyuss is one of the most overrated bands ever.

A shocking statement at first glance, but now as I think about it I never listen to their albums per se. I had to make a compilation...so yeh...some killer songs but a lot of BS and filler in there too. And as a proper band they had a short lifespan.

Personally i think they are no where near the top of the list of overrated bands but everyone's entitled to their opinion.
