These are what comes to mind:
Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil Ratt - EP (1983) Stryper - Soldiers Under Command Pantera - Power Metal Whitesnake - 1987 Skid Row - Slave to the Grind

Shotgun Messiah - Second Coming
...and I'd say Skid Row's Slave To The Grind smokes their debut in terms of heaviness.
Dangerous Toys always had a hint of thrash in their sound, esp. on the debut.

I agree that Slave to the Grind is heavier, but didn’t their glam look tone down by then? Dangerous Toys is a good choice. I’d also throw in the LA Guns debut.

Look at Icon... First album was heavy, they had total glam image 2nd album... Jeans and t-shirt image, total pop metal sound
I first thought of Shotgun Messiah, all three albums sound like a different band.
Slayer wore spandex and make-up, does that count?

Black N Blue's debut album was def heavier/crunchier than the albums that followed.
Ditto Keel. "Lay Down The Law" and "The Right to Rock" were pretty heavy for the time period, but once they entered the major label machine, they were sent straight to the Cheez Factory.

Slayer did wear spandex and makeup, but it was more horror themed (like King Diamond). They didn’t have the drag look like Motley Crue. That said, I’m looking for bands within the more traditional metal sound.

I was actually trying to be sarcastic. Oh well. They looked pretty drag when I first seen them.
Twisted Sister was pretty heavy on UTB & YCSRAR. (IMHDO)

Some people are hard to read with sarcasm. I think the makeup looked more Alice Cooper or Gene Simmons than drag... but there’s no use arguing.

Wasn't intending to argue, my position is any guy wearing spandex AND make-up looks like drag, always has been.

I thought of this band first. Perfect glam rock style. The album’s pretty strong too. They weren’t heavy hitters but they definitely left a mark.

If you wanna know how heavy the glam/hair band is, you need to check if it's featured in metal archives .
