| I'm going with By-Tor and the Snow Dog. Humorous song title, but I love Alex's soloing (if you can call it that) midway through the song. | |

| Another of many excellent albums. Going with Fly By Night but like the S/T you could hit random and land on hit after hit. | |

| I voted Anthem but I could pretty much go with any song other than Rivendell; that and "Tears" from 2112 are the worst songs Rush has ever written IMO. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Haven't listened to this one in a while, I really need to revisit it.
Off the top of my head, I'd go "Anthem" and/or title track. Tho the whole album is good stuff. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Admittedly, this is far from my favorite era of Rush. I voted "Anthem." The title track is, for some reason, one of my least favorite songs of theirs. I really can't stand the chorus on that one. The rest of the tracks on the album are ok, but considering what came after I would have a hard time lifting up any of the songs as masterpieces or even simply emblematic of the Rush sound.

| Conversely this is my favorite era of Rush. Caress of Steel, Fly By Night, 2112 and Hemispheres. The only Rush studio album I own after that is Moving Pictures. They just got too proggy for my tastes. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Agreed. I did enjoy Subdivisions though.

| Quite possibly my favorite RUSH album. There are three songs which on any given day could be my favorite, but I would probably go with: Fly By Night, then Anthem, followed by In the End. | |

Yeah, Rush is better when they keep it simple. The most modern Rush albums I own are Snakes & Arrows and Clockwork Angels and I couldn't get into either of them.

| When Moving Pictures came out I was like "Yay, Rush is back to the style I love!".
Next year they released Signals and I bailed on them after that. Extremely talented band but just not one creating music I enjoy anymore. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Pulled this one off the shelf for today's ride to work, and I am in continued agreement with myself from this earlier post. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Next year they released Signals and I bailed on them after that. Extremely talented band but just not one creating music I enjoy anymore. I only started collecting Rush CDs a couple of years ago. I always liked their radio/MTV stuff growing up in the '80s but I was never what you'd call a major fan. I come across their stuff second hand fairly frequently nowadays, so I pick up their CDs whenever I find them. I don't have a complete collection yet but I own most of the heavy hitters and I think I'm in the same boat as you: the '70s albums seem to be my favorite (that said, I still don't own Caress of Steel or Hemispheres - they're on my never ending list though!) I like Moving Pictures and even Signals a lot (tho nostalgia for the early MTV era plays a big part in that), and even tho the synths had all but taken over by Grace Under Pressure, I still like the bulk of that album too. That seems to be my stopping point, though. I've never owned Power Windows but I've had Hold Your Fire for a while, and that one doesn't get much play, as it's very "80s" sounding, machine-like and sterile. I seem to remember Roll the Bones and Presto were hailed at the time as their "comeback" to more guitar oriented stuff, but neither of those albums did much for me either. I do like Counterparts (mainly for the song "Nobody's Hero") and I also own Test For Echo but I couldn't tell you the last time I listened to it. I do like their Clockwork Angels finale quite a bit too. I've only had that one for about a year so I probably need to give it more listens and let it fully sink in, but they definitely went out on a high note. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Went with Anthem. I remember I heard it as a kid and thinking there was no way 3 dudes could pull that off.
Own most of their stuff but had never heard Farewell To Kings or Hemispheres until a couple of years ago when I picked them up on vinyl and they are fantastic, Hemispheres might be my favorite. Either that or Perm. Waves.

| I dunno, I'd have to hear it again.
This is my least-listened-to Rush album. Not bad by any means, more than interesting, but outside of Anthem and the title track (well-written masterpiece that I can't stand), there's not much here that has stuck. But just because I rarely pull it out. Weird.

I can sort of understand that opinion because Anthem and the title track are definitely the standouts on the album I'd also throw the album closer In The End in there but the rest is kind of bland. It took me repeated listens to get into tracks like By Tor. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
