Vince McMahon has announced his retirement from WWE. He is no longer working as Chairman & CEO of the company he built up into a global entertainment juggernaut.
McMahon issued the following statement through the company today:
“As I approach 77 years old, I feel it’s time for me to retire as Chairman and CEO of WWE. Throughout the years, it’s been a privilege to help WWE bring you joy, inspire you, thrill you, surprise you, and always entertain you. I would like to thank my family for mightily contributing to our success, and I would also like to thank all of our past and present Superstars and employees for their dedication and passion for our brand. Most importantly, I would like to thank our fans for allowing us into your homes every week and being your choice of entertainment. I hold the deepest appreciation and admiration for our generations of fans all over the world who have liked, currently like, and sometimes even love our form of Sports Entertainment.
“Our global audience can take comfort in knowing WWE will continue to entertain you with the same fervor, dedication, and passion as always. I am extremely confident in the continued success of WWE, and I leave our company in the capable hands of an extraordinary group of Superstars, employees, and executives – in particular, both Chairwoman and Co-CEO Stephanie McMahon and Co-CEO Nick Khan. As the majority shareholder, I will continue to support WWE in any way I can. My personal thanks to our community and business partners, shareholders, and Board of Directors for their guidance and support through the years. Then. Now. Forever. Together.”

I'm sure the recent allegations that have surfaced against the creep helped his decision.

It's just a PR move anyway. Vince will still be calling the shots behind the scenes.

I’m surprised Stephanie McMahon is 2nd in charge instead of Shane. I guess he didn’t want the responsibility.

Like Vince will EVER give up control
He'll still be running things until the day they plant him in the ground. WWE has pretty much sucked ever since the Attitude era came to an end. Vince refuses to get away from his love of huge no-necks, even if they can't wrestle for SHIT (see: Jinder, Khali, etc).
I haven't watched a full WWE show in AGES. I'll catch videos of good matches online, and most of those were NXT matches that Vince used to have little to no control over. Of course, when Vince DID get his hooks in he fucked everything up. Renaming WALTER to Gunther (after a fucking Nazi officer...) and other stupid decisions like that is classic Vince

WWE Legend Lanny Poffo has passed away at the age of 68.
The passing was announced on Twitter today by WWE Hall of Famer Jim Duggan, but there’s no word yet on Poffo’s cause of death. He just celebrated a birthday on December 28.
“With a very, very heavy heart, I’ve been asked to let everyone know about the passing of our friend and colleague Lanny Poffo, The Genius. RIP Lanny,” Duggan wrote.
Poffo, who had been living in Ecuador for a few years now, was just in New Jersey several days ago for a virtual autograph signing.
Poffo began wrestling back in 1974, and was known to fans at The Genius or Leaping Lanny. He was the younger brother to WWE Hall of Famer Randy Savage, and son to WCW Hall of Famer Angelo Poffo. Poffo had runs with the AWA, the NWA, WWE, Mid-South Wrestling, and WCW, among others.

Legendary UK wrestler “Exotic” Adrian Street has passed away at the age of 82.
The BBC reports that Street passed away today at The Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran, England. He recently underwent brain surgery, and it was noted that the cause of death was sepsis that developed from a bout of colitis.
“He’d had a heart problem a while ago which was resolved,” wife Miss Linda told The BBC. “But then he had a stroke earlier this month which resulted in a bleed on the brain. He was recovering from that at home when he developed colitis – a chronic inflammatory bowel disease – which later turned into sepsis. That’s what killed him. It all came about so quick. I’ve still not come to terms with it yet.”
Street debuted in the 1950s, and had successful runs across Europe and North America. Street and his wife/manager, Miss Linda, later got into designing & selling gear for pro wrestlers. Street had his last match in June 2014, and estimated that he worked between 12,000 and 15,000 matches. in his career.
