What Can I Expect?

There are some bands that I have interest in persuing albums from but can't seem to find some good samples (most of the time when I buy an album based on the cover art they turn out to be my cup of tea but I figure it is only a matter of time before I come accross one that is abysmal and I don't want to take a chance now that my spending money is dwindling). Can someone give me a description and your thoughts on the following bands (if possible):

Morgana Lefay
Graveworm
Catamenia
Ancestral
Nightmare
Dark Moor
Heavenly
Dark Lunacy
Bal Sagoth
Heimdall

Some of these might be pretty obscure but maybe there is chance some of you all have heard these guys before.

Best albums: Grand Materia, S.O.S. (as Lefay), The Seventh Seal (as Lefay), The Secret Doctrine

My thoughts (and yes I am picky):

Morgana Lefay: Grand Materia was an ok album. It kinda got old after awhile and didnt have the staying power I thought it would. I had some of their back catalog as well but it didnt excite me. I didnt bother with their new one as there is too much other stuff out there..

Dark Moor: This band is just boring to me. I got all excited over their new release and it was a huge letdown for me. The music was trying to be rhapsody (of Fire) but didnt pull it off and a rather bad way...

Heavenly: I like this band a lot and if you like keepers helloween you will too. Their debut - coming from the sky is rather generic but i like sign of the winner, dust to dust and virus. I come back to sign of the winner the most frequent of all of them.

Dark Moor - I love these guys! I have the exact opposite opinion of them than Exact33. I think they pull off their sound nicely!

Heavenly - I have only Virus but I think it's fantastic as well. Very much in the Freedom Call realm of powermetal. Fast and well executed with loads of melody....

Solid band. The albums with Elisa C. Martin on vocals are the best, though. I haven't heard their latest.

I love NIGHTMARE from France but their 80s albums(WAITING FOR THE TWILIGHT from 84 and POWER FROM THE UNIVERSE from 85. Then in 99 they released a good ep with some cool songs named ASTRAL DELIVERANCE and then LIVE DELIVERANCE in 2000, live with many old songs. After that i lost interest in the group because they started to sound different.
GRAVEWORM is a false black metal band from Italy, DARK MOOR are one of the worse bands from Spain (check out AZRAEL or SARATOGA, they are so much better). HEIMDALL debut album was not bad but i think that many other italian bands of the late 90s were much better like SHADOWS OF STEEL, DRAKKAR, SKYLARK, MEZMERIZE etc....
BAL SAGOTH is one of the favorite bands of the singer of SACRED STEEL but i never carred about them. About the rest, ni fu ni fa.

Morgana Lefay was a dark melodic band with fairly complex power metal songs. They seemed a little more straightforward as Lefay. I'm not sure where they are at now, as Morgana again.

Bal-sagoth are an acquirred taste, we've struggled to define them here before. Try the search function on them here to learn more.

Bal-Sagoth are awesome. Hard to pinpoint a sound as they are all their own. The music is like their lyrics in that the Journeys to forin lands really make their own mark. They don't have a bad album!
