| OK, since in another thread, someone suggested I start a separate thread, I'm going to do it.
My dad has been bedridden for over a month now. Last month, he was taken to the hospital due to vertigo.
He then developed problems with his vision (he is extremely light sensitive now) and problems swallowing food. I heard he even declined meals.
He is reportedly off tubes (going by what my mother said), but he is still bedridden.
I actually ran into a guy who I've seen at the local metal shows after I first saw him at the hospital. Apparently his mother was in the hospital as well. We had a brief metal related chat. His mother just got out of the hospital, according to a message he sent me yesterday via Facebook.

| Sounds like your dad may have possibly had a stroke? I hope he gets well soon. | |

| I went to see him at the hospital very early today. However, he was given a lot of drugs that more or less put him to sleep. During the afternoon, he was having hallucinations and got really upset.
It was rather disappointing that I hardly got to see or speak to him today as a result.

| Don't give up, even if you don't get to speak much it will mean a lot you go see him. | |

| Go see him RF, every chance you get.
I lost my Dad this past Labor Day and though I talked to him via phone every week, I hadn't physically seen him in over 5 years and now I'll never have that opportunity again and I'm kicking myself. Don't make the same mistake I made. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

It was rather disappointing that I hardly got to see or speak to him today as a result. My dad was in a coma for 13 days before he passed. I'm grateful that I saw him every day even though he couldn't speak. Hope he gets better but treasure your time with him.

| I lost my dad to cancer when I was 18 so I was still at home with him during his illness. I'm thankful I was able to spend time with him in his final days (he lasted three months after diagnosis). Ditto on the spending time with your dad, RF. | |

| One other thing:
If you love your father (I assume you do), tell him. We men tend to not say that to the other men in our lives. I don't recall my father saying it to me or me to him; it's one of those things that the men in most families just take as "understood" or "a given". Hell, I didn't even hug my Dad until about 7 or 8 years ago; we're just not a "touchy/feely" family.
But now that he's gone I really regret not ever telling him I loved him. I'm certain he knew just like I knew he loved me, but there's something about saying it. My Mom and I say it to each other now every time we talk. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I didn't see my dad today because I was at work, but he is making progress. He was finally able to get out of his bed for the first time in over a month. That's a good thing. | |

| I'm reading Lita Fords book today - and read how Lita wrote the song "Lisa" - for her mother - and her mom would show up to some of her shows - when Lita opened for Crue - She discussed the final 3 days of her mom's life - etc - died - How Nikki Sixx sent 12 - dozen white roses to funeral home - Ozzy and Sharon too - sent a large amount of flowers. She decided afterwards to divorce Chris Holmes - for his lack of sympathy - concerning the death of both her parents.
Anyways - this was a cool thread - to read through -

| My dad has really started making some significant improvements now.
I have paid him visits in the hospital over the weekends (it's been every Saturday).
There have been a handful of days he was allowed home for part of the day.
He was permitted to leave for about five hours for Easter dinner on Easter Sunday, and he also was able to have Chinese food the night I went to see Anvil and Stygian Sky.
There were a couple of days that he was able to go to the house for a few hours for, but I wasn't able to see him because I was working.
Tonight is the first night he is able to sleep at home in about three months.
He will be leaving tomorrow to go back to the hospital, and then I won't be able to see him for a few weeks while he is in rehabilitation to learn to walk right (he is currently using a walker) and have his vision improved.
