"C.H.U.D." (1984)

A photographer and a homeless advocate discover that toxic waste dumping beneath the streets of New York City has mutated the subterranean homeless population into Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers. I never get tired of this stone cold cult classic!

"The Haunting of Sharon Tate" (2019)

In yet another fictionalized version of the infamous Manson Family murder saga, former Disney Channel kid Hilary Duff portrays the doomed actress Sharon Tate, who is plagued by nightmares and visions of her own death in the days leading up to that fateful night in August 1969.
Duff's performance is better than I expected but otherwise this is more or less a gory Lifetime movie. If you're expecting historical accuracy, obviously you can look elsewhere.

CHUD is an 80s B-movie staple. If you're a fan of the genre, you've seen CHUD multiple times.

I used to own it... on VHS Laughing very hard I've lost count of how many times I've seen it over the years.

"CHUD II: Bud the CHUD," on the other hand... not so much. Razz

I know I've seen CHUD II but the only thing I remember about it is that I hated it.

It's a shit show. A generic zombie comedy with no connection to the first CHUD whatsoever

"Skinner" (1993)

A lonely housewife (Ricki Lake) rents out her spare room to a seemingly harmless, nerdy new tenant (Ted Raimi), who turns out to be a serial killer who carves up prostitutes to make suits out of their skin. Just when it can't get any darker or weirder, 80s porn queen Traci Lords turns up as one of Raimi's horribly-disfigured former victims, looking for revenge.
This stylish '90s splatter sickie has got a few problems with pacing and plot holes, but it gets by thanks to the solid performances by its odd cast (Raimi in particular is a hoot as the skin wearing nut job) and some nasty-ass gore. Ideal Schlock-Tober entertainment!

Hell yeah, this one is weeeeird! Ted is kind of unnerving, and that speech he delivers (you know what I mean) is one of the most outlandish scenes out there. How did you manage to catch this? I saw it on a really shit (and heavily cut) VHS 20-something years ago. I heard the Blu Ray dropped earlier this year.

It's streaming on Amazon Prime. ... and yeah this one is a mindfug. Haha. That scene where Ted is running around wearing the black guy's skin, trying to speak jive, would **never** fly if this movie were made today...

Side note: the name of Ricki Lake's husband's character (the truck driver guy) is... Geoff Tate. Haha.

I've never seen "Skinner" but now I'm going to have to!

I've really been slacking on my movie watching because I've been watching various series during my daily workout on the elliptical.

I'm almost done with Season 3 of "Enterprise" so once I finish this series I'll jump back into movie watching.

Holy crap I had no idea it was on Amazon Prime; I'm watching it right now. Decent quality AND the original aspect ratio! Makes for almost an entirely different movie for me. I can't believe they remastered this one.

Toho, it's worth a shot, even if just once. A total curio in the low-rent thriller era of exploitative Silence of the Lambs knockoffs. Everything I remember is here: rather nasty gore effects (relatively short on blood tho), Traci Lords actually ACTING, Ted Raimi aaaalllmost hitting full disturbance...I wonder what his opinion of his stunt here is now. He's just too likable a guy to pull a Buffalo Bill, but damn does the script force him to go ALL OUT. It's schlock, but it's gonzo schlock, the good stuff.

Also the gore effects were done by Robert Kurtzman's then-newly-reformed KNB Group. Big history, but basically the guys behind the Walking Dead prosthetics.

Cool movie, thanks for pointing it out FF! \'arry \'eadbanger

That Skinner flick keeps popping up in my Amazon Prime list but I hadn't pulled the trigger yet. I'll have to move it up and check it out.

Geez, I never expected my "Skinner" post to cause such a frenzy, haha!

Seriously fellas, it's not perfect but it's a cool, nasty little flick. Def the kind of thing that could become a cult classic if more people knew about it. Y'all check it out, it's perfect Halloween season sleaze.

That one has me intrigued mainly because mainstream media keeps going on about how violent it is. So I'll wait for an "unrated" version to come out on Blu-ray and check it out then.

Since the Cardinals are getting creamed and RAW was shitty as usual I've started watching Skinner on Amazon Prime.

Only 15 minutes in and it's already been more enjoyable than my other viewing options.

Well that ending sucked.  But it was pretty good up until then.  Not as gory as I'd hoped though.

^^ Yea, the ending to "Skinner" did fall kinda flat... I kept waiting for Traci to suddenly sit up and kill the guy once and for all, but nope, she just lays there bleeding out while Ted rambles on and on, then the credits start rolling... huh??

Quote :
Not as gory as I'd hoped though.

... the scene with Ted peeling the skin off the dead hooker wasn't gory enough for you? Geez. Laughing very hard

LOL!

Yeah I gotta say that one skinning scene had my stomach in a knot when I first saw Skinner, but TBH now my mind simply said to me, "there should be waaaaay more blood." Dammit brain, you ruin everything.

And yeah that ending sux! The Lords character serves little purpose. Then again so does the movie.

"Mandrake" (2010)

Treasure hunters in the South American jungle violate a sacred native burial ground, which awakens a giant, homicidal tree-like something or other.
So yeah, basically this average SyFy schlocker is one part "Tomb Raider," one part "Predator," but obviously it's nowhere near as much fun as either of those. For creature feature completists only.

Tonight when I get tired of the Cardinals flailing and missing I'll probably watch that Halloween Tales anthology.
