Hmm...I liked it because it was a very different take on Godzilla. Somewhat different origin story, different creature, different powers. I thought the effects were pretty good as well. Not bad at all. I LOVED the music, and American Envoy to Japan Patterson was insanely hot!
So far this was the most violent episode of the film - the Tet offensive, the assassinations of both Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy and the subsequent civil unrest here at home...what a mess.
The disc ends with Procul Harem's "Whiter Shade Of Pale" which I've always liked but I'm curious why the producers chose that particular song to play over the closing credits. Most of the other closing song choices on the previous discs made some thematic sense but I guess I'm missing the point on this one.

I still haven't seen this and from what I've read about it and (more importantly) what my brother has told me about it, I probably won't bother.

"Rock N Roll High School" (1979)
Rock n' roller Riff Randall (P.J. Soles) leads the students of Vince Lombardi High in an all out rebellion against fascist Principal Togar (Mary Woronov), with a little help from the Ramones. I've lost count of how many times I've seen this classic but it never gets old.

When we were kids, this movie was in heavy rotation on Showtime or HBO (whichever). My friends and I would catch it every chance we got. I haven't seen it in years though.

Explain! As a Toho fan I find this extraordinarily surprising.

Reviews and word of mouth on Shin Godzilla all say the same thing: Not enough monster and way too much time spent on Japanese politics and depicting the incompetency of the government.

Well, that's true...and a fair share of USA bashing...but the creature and the story was unique enough to make it worth it for me...but point well taken. There was a lot boardroom stuff.

"After Porn Ends 3" (2018)
Third installment of the documentary series catches up with a new set of retired adult performers from days gone by, like Jenna Presley (now a Christian who makes sandwiches for the homeless), Christy Canyon (hostess of an adult talk show on satellite radio) and Jenteal (a stay at home Mom who sells CBD oil!). There aren't any train-wrecks in this edition, unlike in previous chapters of this series, so those hoping to hear some good crash-and-burn stories will likely be bored. The message here seems to be: porn people can have "normal" lives off camera, too. Who knew?

"Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" (1989)
Good grief, is this movie *really* 30 years old? I saw it twice during its theatrical run! ...the news that shooting is about to commence on a 3rd "Bill & Ted" flick inspired me to revisit the original tale of two time travelling dorks who take a trip through history so they can ace their final exams and ward off a most heinous fate for all mankind. I hadn't seen "B&T" in at least 20 years, and it hasn't aged particularly well (as I somewhat expected) but it was still good for a few nostalgic chuckles. ...also, how did I not know that Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go's played Joan of Arc in this flick?

I just know it has a great soundtrack.
But on a similar note, I just finished burning an AC/DC comp and I realized most of my favorites from the band (like "Highway To Hell" for example) are 40 years old! 40!!!!!! Holy crap!!!

"The Last Shark" (aka "Great White," 1981)
A seaside resort town is plagued by a series of shark attacks, so a couple of tough guys head out to sea to hunt the critter down and kill it. ...sound familiar? It should. This none too subtle "Jaws" wanna-be from Italy rips off Spielberg's classic to such an astounding degree that when it was imported to the U.S. in early '82, Universal Studios cried "plagiarism" and sued it out of theatres. It may be a cheap knockoff, but I still like this one better than "Jaws 3D" or "Jaws: The Revenge."

Watched 'Thor: Ragnarok' with the kids Saturday night. It was the first an only Thor movie I've seen in the Marvel Universe. I enjoyed much more than I thought I would.

Where did you find this ? I've always wanted to see it but could never track it down.

It's streaming on Amazon Prime under the "Last Shark" title.
...don't get me wrong, it's bad, but it's fun bad. It's like a mashup of the first two "Jaws" movies and "Tentacles" with bits from a couple of other killer-fish flicks thrown in.
It's worth sitting thru just to see Vic Morrow play a terrible knock-off of Robert Shaw's "Quint" character from "Jaws." He uses a different accent in every scene. First he sounds like an old New Englander, then suddenly he's got a Scottish brogue, then he switches to an Irish accent, and back again.
I guess he must have figured f**k it, since it was an Italian production, they were just gonna dub over his real voice with an Italian actor anyway

Unbelievable. I know I searched on there before. I just figured with the lawsuit and all , it would never see the light of day again. I'll have to catch this one now.

Yeah, Universal sued the hell out of it back in the day, got the movie pulled from theaters, and it never got a home video release in the U.S. either. So when I saw it pop up on Amazon I was like "holy crap!" Haha. Maybe enough time has passed that Universal doesn't care anymore.
Another interesting fun fact about this movie that I learned from my good friend Dr. Wik E. Pedia: the "Great White" lawsuit crippled the film's U.S. distributor, Film Ventures International. The company's head honcho eventually cleaned out whatever $$ was left in the corporate account and disappeared without a trace, he hasn't been seen since. After all these years no one is even sure if he's still alive.
Now THAT would make an interesting movie!!
