Really shady stuff. The guy seemed to promote himself as some superstar in rock music to get good gigs.
He bought over 38,000 likes for his Facebook page (which was just deleted), and he seemed to do some really seedy stuff in making himself look like a legit star on the rise. He'd be his own promoter in order to get himself to play in front of hundreds of people overseas. Only a few people actually ended up buying tickets.
Almost all of the YouTube comments (which have since been disabled) were from users with no other posting information or user information whatsoever.
Plus, the man's biography makes him look like a bigger narcissist than Kanye West.

That's crazy. I wonder how he has the money to do all that?

I read an article about this guy on The AV Club's site just yesterday. Fascinatingly weird.
There seem to be two trains of thought on the whole thing: either he's got super-rich parents who are bankrolling his little rock star dream, and he got caught trying to BS his way to the top... or this is an elaborate put-on / performance-art experiment in manipulating social media, and this guy is playing a character (ala "Borat"). Whatever it is, it's certainly bizarre. The more I read about it, the more I lean towards the Borat theory.

In case anybody's curious what this doof's "band" sounds like:
Meh. Doesn't sound any better or worse than some of the C-level crap that Frontiers Records puts out.

"super-rich parents who are bankrolling bankrolling his little rock star dream" - isn't that how Kid Rock got started? Haha.

Okay, I lasted about a minute. It's not the worst thing I have heard or seen, but it's close. The whole thing (the music, the video, his look and mannerisms) has a very late 1990's / early 2000's vibe to it. I don't have an issue with someone being the whole band or really even having the parents bank roll it (if that is indeed the case) or drumming up their own business. I just have an issue with the lying and creating a fake following. There is respect in "paying dues" and "earning" it in my eyes.

Either he has an insanely rich relative or family we don't know about, or he is going to be broke for the rest of his life.

I wouldn't call it terrible, but it is rather run of the mill.

I've definitely heard worse, especially from so called basement dwelling one man bands, but it's pretty bad imo. Think it would be better if the video didn't have him in it lol

I checked out the video last night. It had 1,300+ likes and around 1,000 dislikes.
When I checked again just now, it has about twice as many dislikes as likes.

One of the best YouTube comments I've seen so far was "This guy looks like the generic store-brand version of Sebastian Bach."

The web site "MetalSucks" has posted a very thorough investigation of this band/guy's supposed record label, awards, press accolades, etc., and it appears that EVERY word of it was manufactured BS.
Gotta give the guy credit, he certainly put a lot of work into creating this scam. It probably would've been LESS work to simply play some actual gigs and gain fans the old fashioned way. Haha

Yeah, exactly. I would be on his side if he was truthful and willing to put the time in rather than fabricating accolades. I don't like it when 1980's bands/ artists have a new album coming out and the press release from the label makes them sound like they spearheaded the hair metal scene and sold a zillion albums. So, I hate it when the band or artist has the same amount of records sold as me. Haha.

Threatin's guitarist and drummer have quit the band mid-tour, necessitating the cancellation of their gig in Belfast Ireland tonight:

It's actually a pretty good tune, but the production is weak, and watching the video just makes it seem worse than it is because it's so cheesy. Haha.
Either way, I'm trying to score a copy of the CD.

OK, I finally gave in and watched the video.
It's not the worst thing I've ever heard but it's sure as hell not the best either. For one thing I find the dude's vocals to be really annoying. And his (or whoever is actually performing it) guitar playing leaves much to be desired as well.
But as Eyesore said, if you step back and listen to the song for what it is, I don't think it's horrible and could actually sound decent if a "real" band performed it.
