Tesla - Song And Emotion That's the first one that came to mind. Tesla did a phenomenal job on this song. To this day, it gives me chills. When Jeff sings "you can hear him play" and then that riff comes in—man, it really sounds like something Steve would play. Anyway, some others: Black Label Society - In This River (Dimebag Darrell) Black Label Society - Layne (Layne Staley) Pearl Jam - 4/20/02 (Layne Staley) Cold and Staind did Layne Staley tributes, too, but I can't remember the names. |

| Yeah Song and Emotion is an amazing song, didn't realise Layne Staley had so many songs about him. | |

| I seem to remember a line in a Cult song about Andrew Wood too. Maybe on their s/t album they put out after Astbury sobered up? | |

| Yeah that was the song Sacred Life off the 1994 s/t the lyrics read: "Kurt Cobain was so young Sad to see this poet's gone, Andrew Wood was so young It's hard to feel this priest is gone" Two tributes to 2 amazing individuals, Astbury has always been a great lyricist. | |

| Thought of 2 more on the way into work this morning... Suicide Solution - Ozzy (Bon Scott) I've questioned this one because I never heard the Bon Scott connection until Ozzy was being blamed for the death of those 2 stupid kids. Was the song truely written about Bon or was this something the lawyers told Ozzy to say in defense of his lyrics? In My Darket Hour - Megadeth (Cliff Burton) Although the lyrics don't really reflect it, I'm pretty sure I've heard Dave say that he wrote the song when he heard about Cliff's death. Can anyone verify both of these claims? | |

Can anyone verify both of these claims? I've heard Ozzy claim that "Suicide" isn't directly about Bon Scott but he was inspired to write it after Bon's death. Apparently he and Bon were buddies. As for "Darkest Hour," I believe I read somewhere that Dave Mustaine wrote that song on the same night he got the phone call about Cliff Burton's death. | |
