What happened to originality in Album Covers.

People don't buy albums anymore so it's not important to labels.

Also no-one wants to pay for a good artist with original ideas, when they can get someone who pumps out 26 crappy photoshopped album covers per week with crappy effects super cheap or even for free.

Both of those points are spot-on. I'm not much of a Stryper fan and it's fun to bust on them, but at least their new album cover looks like it took more that 15 minutes to slap together. Which is more than I can say for some other Frontiers acts. *cough*BulletBoys* cough*

Yeah, the Bulletboys cover looks like it was done in a High School graphics class.

Then we have the more famous album with the same album cover art that came out afterward. The color hues are slightly different, though.

Morbid Angel - Blessed Are the Sick...

Wow. I've seen covers that were strikingly similar, but that's the first time I've seen the exact same picture.

According to Metal Scrap Records, that cover by Hexenhaus and Morbid Angel is a painting by Jean Deville entitled Les Tresors de Satan. Morbid Angel had official license to use it, Hexenhaus didn't. Hexenhaus had to remove the record from stores due to legal pressure so apparently an original copy of it is quite rare.
