2017 So Far...

Ok the year is almost half over. What are some of your favorite albums from the first 6 months of 2017? And what are you looking forward to in the 2nd half of the year?

Oh man, I haven't really bought anything.

*a quick look*

I have five 2017 CDs. I think the new Iced Earth is my favourite so far, but it's also so new it's still on constant rotation. I can't possibly compare it to any other 2017 releases yet. But it's a cool record and I like it much better than Plagues of Babylon.

The new Skyclad maybe then comes second. That's also new for me, so I have very little to say about it yet. The others I own are Axxis (solid), Ayreon (a semi-letdown) and Blaze Bayley (good).

The next instant purchase for me is the new Rage album.

So far my favorites are Stephen Pearcy, Crazy Lixx, Jorn, Night Demon, Night ranger & Black Star Riders..

What I am looking forward to ...Accept, LA Guns, Lizzy Borden

I've only bought one CD released this year, Overkill's the Grinding Wheel. I have my eye on a few released this year and will get them eventually. Off the top of my head, I want Grave Digger and Iced Earth.

Havok, Iced Earth, Obituary, Memoriam, Immolation, Overkill, Sepultura, Power Trip, Warbringer, Freakings, Ex deo, Demon Hunter, Divitius. KXM and Death Therapy.
More then I thought.

I'm looking forward to the new L.A. Guns album and the new Sweet and Lynch, both of which should be out in the fall.

I have bought a lot of cds so far including many 2017 releases, the major ones being: havok, kreator, iced earth, grave digger and striker.

3. Overkill-The Grinding Wheel

Mastadon, Emperor of Sand (nothing special)
Doomsday Kingdom, st-----a must have for any Candlemass, and or Wolf fans.

I've only bought two '17 releases thus far -- Overkill and Body Count. I like'em both just fine, for whatever that's worth.

Well I just added one more to my list and picked up the new Power Trip. Picked up the older one too, but guess that wouldn't count for 2017.

I Havent bought a single CD this year  Im lookin forward to the new Foo Fighters album along with the new Deliverance and the Eraserhead album

Totally agree with doomsday kingdom. Definitely one of my favourite purchases this year

Also awaiting the new accept, rage and serious black albums.

Overkill, Havok, Warbringer, and a 2 CD Saxon compilation.

Looking forward to Eluveitie in August.

I've purchased nine 2017 releases so far, and to be quite frank, none of them have been that great or outstanding in my opinion. None of them have been terrible or anything like that, but most of them have been "good" at best. The only one that stands out most is the "novelty album" Galactic Empire. I've probably played that one most. The kids and I both enjoy it.

Part of the problem is that 8 of the 9 new releases are from established bands that I'm already familiar with. I pretty much know what I'm in for and for the most part, they deliver. Not bad at all, just...expected.

There are a handful of upcoming releases that I'm still looking forward to, but they'll probably fall into the same dilemma. Been there, done that, moving on. And a few that are out now, but I just haven't picked up yet...
