I sure as hell hope that this continuation of a stupid, stupid, STUPID segment by Mahal means they are finally taking the belt off of him. Yes, he's a heel, but this is not the kind of heat you want. He has the same heat Michael Cole did, the kind that makes one want to stop watching.
Here's a good question. Who's theme song is more annoying, Jindroid or Carmella? Can't stand either one myself (the music not-actually the individuals as well).
No Mercy was okay, but Smackdown PPV's seem to have the more exciting matches.
I think I'll just watch Smackdown from now on because they have AJ, Owens, Nakamura, Roode, Dillinger, Zayn etc and none of Cena, Reigns, Brock or such.
Ambrose losing clean on Raw was good (though he was injured, so that's an escape). He was made to look way too strong on No Mercy. And I LOVE Dean Ambrose. It's just that no-one should ever kick out of that White Noise + powerbomb. Made Sheamus and Cesaro look bad.
That's also why I hate Reigns & Cena (and always hated Hogan). They ruin (or rather, their corporate pushed characters), otherwise perfectly good matches. And they are always there. Miz is right.
It's wrestling. It shouldn't matter who wins - why shove characters down our throats, when we clearly would rather not watch them. I wish Cena's catch phrase was true and I couldn't see him.
I saw some pics from smackdown and like last week one whole side of the arena was empty. I wonder why? Are they just not that interesting? It's been a long time since I have been to a show (last one was the last Nitro here in Panama City). Years ago I went to a ton of house shows and the crowds were bigger than they are now. Wonder if it's because of the smackdown roster or if people have just lost interest.

Both. It's the B-show and it's a mediocre product. Of course, Raw is mediocre at best, but at least it's the premier show.
And what's sad is that after the initial brand split THIS time, Smackdown was drawing better ratings then RAW which I guess was a blow to McMahon's ego so he apparently started sabotaging Smackdown. Now it's even lamer than RAW is.

Legendary announcer Lance Russell passes away
WWE is saddened to learn that Lance Russell, the legendary voice of Memphis, Tenn., wrestling, has passed away at age 91.
A fixture of the Memphis circuit, Russell’s career as an announcer began in the late 1950s and spanned nearly 40 years until his semi-retirement in 1997. His avuncular charm and steady hand guided fans who tuned in to watch the region’s larger-than-life personalities and notoriously wild ring action.
As the unflappable host of the Continental Wrestling Association’s weekly Saturday morning show held at WMC’s TV studios, as well as the Mid-South Coliseum cards each Monday night, Russell provided commentary for all of Memphis’ most famous matches.
His relaxed drawl was the soundtrack for Jerry “The King” Lawler’s rivalry with absurdist comedian Andy Kaufman in the early 1980s, a groundbreaking event that made national headlines. When an impromptu tag team fight broke out in the concession stand of the Tupelo Sports Arena in Mississippi years earlier, after that night’s taping had ended, it was Russell who alerted the cameraman to begin filming and who literally shined a light on the brawl, which many consider a milestone moment in wrestling.
Over the years, Russell developed a level of credibility and trust with TV audiences that rivaled Walter Cronkite’s, and as Superstars like Lawler and Bill Dundee switched allegiances, Russell remained a consummate moral compass. His interaction with rule-breakers like Austin Idol and “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart — which often featured Russell voicing his disappointment over their dirty deeds — became as much an attraction to fans as the matches themselves.
Russell also commentated in WCW from 1989 to 1992.
Following news of Russell's passing, many of his friends, contemporaries and admirers expressed their love and affection for the "Voice of Memphis Wrestling."

Oh crap!
I knew it had to be coming since I haven't lived in TN in 30 years and he had to be in his late 50s/early 60s back then but for the 8 years I was there I watched Lance and his "sidekick" WMC weatherman Dave Brown every Saturday for their live, in-studio wrestling broadcast every Saturday morning. I loved Lance! He had this down-home, folksy yet authentic way of calling matches and conducting interviews. Even though the show usually consisted of a lot of squashes, somehow he made them seem exciting. Especially when the heel would take things to the extreme during or after matches.
RIP Lance! You were the voice of wrestling in the 80s for me.

The PPV opens with the Usos vs. The New Day for the hundredth time. Their matches have been great, but hopefully, this will be the last meeting of the two.
