| I'm in total and utter shock waking up to this. I was just listening to "Louder Than Love" a couple of days ago, then looking up group members ages, seeing that Chris Cornell was the youngest and thinking how Soundgarden still has some years left in them. This is beyond sad... | |

| Geez, this came outta nowhere.
I was never more than a casual Soundgarden fan - I only own "Louder Than Love" and "Badmotorfinger" - but the guy had a hell of a voice.
I'm also a massive James Bond nerd and he sang the theme to "Casino Royale" ("You Know My Name") so Chris was OK in my book.
R.I.P. sir. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Geez. This sucks. RIP Chris. Hitting to close to home age-wise. Cornell provided the background music to half of my life between ages 17-30, I'd say. Wow.
One of my 5 favorite vocalists ever. Say Hello to Heaven.

| RIP... what shocking and terrible news. I really dig Audiosoave and Temple Of The Dog and really liked Soundgarden's Screaming Life, Fopp, Ultramega OK and Louder Than Love but never listened to them past that. | |

| On my way to work this AM, the local news radio sez that the authorities in Detroit (where he passed away) are investigating Cornell's death as "a potential suicide."
Damn.
On a related note, also while on my way to work I stopped @ the Goodwill Store for a quick look thru the CDs and what do I find but the first Audioslave album. Haha. I didn't buy it tho, cuz I never liked that band, I just thought it was odd to come across that one today. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Damn. Yeah, I read that too. Such a shame, it would seem that being immensely talented, super rich and irresistible to women wasn't enough for him.

| Shocked and saddened by this news.
Every morning I get up and check out the headlines for the latest nincompoopery coming out of Washington and then I get punched in the gut with this news.
I really hope it wasn't a suicide. Or drugs. Really, I don't know what I want it to be. Maybe untrue. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| A representative for the Detroit Police told Variety that the death of is being investigated as a suicide.
"At 12 a.m. [local time], we received a 911 call from the MGM Grand Casino Hotel," Detroit Police director of media relations told Variety. "It appears as though a family friend was checking up on Cornell at his wife's request. He went to hotel and discovered him unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Police made the location with EMS, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"At present our investigation is leaning toward the possibility of suicide, but we must wait for a medical report to determine the cause of death. At this time we cannot release too much information about what we observed in Cornell's hotel room or what led us to this conclusion." _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. It wasn't that weird sex thing like the guy from INXS I hope. I find it really bizarre that he would kill himself, not only right after a performance, but in the midst of a tour, and preparing to head back in the studio to record a new album. This just keeps getting sadder. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | It really is strange that a man who cared enough about children to set up his own charity to care for children in need would find life so unbearable that he would leave his own three (two girls and a boy aged between 11-17) without a dad. I don't want to slag him off because I don't know him or his life but it is really odd and really tragic
