Chuck Berry AND Chuck Barris? sigh....
Chuck Barris, whose game show empire included The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game and that infamous factory of cheese, The Gong Show, has died at 87.
Barris died of natural causes Tuesday afternoon at his home in Palisades, New York, according to publicist Paul Shefrin, who announced the death on behalf of Barris’ family.
Barris made game show history right off the bat, in 1966, with The Dating Game, hosted by Jim Lange. The gimmick: a young female questions three males, hidden from her view, to determine which would be the best date. Sometimes the process was switched, with a male questioning three females. But in all cases, the questions were designed by the show’s writers to elicit sexy answers.

I loved the Gong Show as a kid. It was pretty funny.
He had a nice long life.

R.I.P. Mr. Barris, creator of some of the most twisted TV of my childhood! The Gong Show used to crack me up when I was a kid. The Unknown Comic was my hero.

'The Gong Show' was a staple of tv in my parent's house. My dad loved it. The Unknown Comic, Gene Gene the Dancing Machine, assorted freaks and weirdos with Chuck as their demented Ringleader.
I love that movie too. Weird but fascinating nonetheless.
Godspeed Chuck. The gong it tolls for thee one final time.

Loved 'The Gong Show', it had subversive humor and thou I did not see this segment til advent of Youtube, I have admire Chuck Barris for actually getting this aired in the 70's:
