Right. But you can't stream to other devices? Like if I upload the music I purchased on CD to my PC, I'd like to access it everywhere with every phone, iPad, TV, refrigerator I want. And listen to it at work if I just log in to Google.
That's what I want.

I dont think it handles streaming like that

Well, it's official - Google Play Music is toast.
I pulled up the app this morning as I headed out the door to walk the dog and got a screen that said
"GOOGLE PLAY MUSIC IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE You can still transfer your library, including playlists and uploads, for a limited time."
I already transferred all my junk to YT Music of course, but I was still bummed.
Fare thee well, G.P.M. -- you were fun while you lasted.

Works for me.
Did you perhaps update the app? I never update if I'm expecting downgrades / bugs.

Nope, haven't updated anything. It's just gone. Maybe yours hasn't shut down yet cuz you're in a different continent, or time zone, or something? (shrug)

My phone app still works, but I can't use GPM on the desktop PC anymore.
And Youtube Music is still broken. Can't sort my uploads in any reasonable manner, nor use voice commands to call up a song from my catalogue.

The other day I realized I had a ton of Google points (like $30). There is a Google survey app. You just download it and it randomly sends you surveys to fill out. Usually it will ask you if you visited a particular place recently or it will ask you about Podcasts or videos watched. It pays anywhere from 10 cents to a dollar a survey. Over time I have built up quite a bit and they do pay real money (I used some credits a few months ago to "rent" Halloween 2018 and I bought a book.
Anyway, I decided since I had about $30 I would preorder PWR/UP on Google Music. I plan to buy a physical copy the day of release but what the heck, I have the credits so why not buy a digital copy too? So I went into the Google Music app and it said it was no longer available and to use YouTube music. I had already downloaded this before but never uploaded anything and really have no interest in doing so as I use the Amazon Music player on my phone.
When I did a search for AC/DC there is no option to buy anything (at least that I could find). But ALL of AC/DC albums are on there and you can stream them! Since a lot of my CD's are packed up I decided to listen to Stiff Upper Lip. The odd thing is that YouTube music plays the video versions of whatever they have. A commercial plays before a song (I am not sure if one plays before every song but it probably does since I refuse to pay for their service). Stuff Upper Lip started and it was street noises so I had to look at my phone and see what was up. It was the actual video playing. Cover You In Oil was up next and it was also the video. So I decided to browse a little bit and saw '77 "Maximum Rock & Roll" is on there as well (on Amazon it is an Unlimited selection and not part of Prime). So I played a few tracks from that. I also looked up Styx and all of their albums are there as well as a 1977 concert broadcast which was cool to hear them live in their prime (album called Mantra Studios).
I won't ever be paying for it but I'll be browsing quite a bit when I want to hear something. FM radio has been dead to me for a long time now (unless it is sports radio which I listen to on occasion) so this is a nice alternative with a huge selection.
I assume it is like Spotify but I don't use that either as it shuffles songs on an album and also plays random artists when you listen to a complete album.

They play the video audio only if you're using their music. If you upload your own music it's what you uploaded. And there are no commercials if you're playing your own uploaded music. I don't pay either. Would feel silly paying for something I already own and have paid for.

Good to know. I haven't uploaded anything and probably won't but may use it from time to time when I want to hear a CD I haven't ripped yet and isn't available on Prime Music. I don't mind the video versions so much but it is bit distracting when there are sound effects in a video that isn't on the song.
