| I'm watching the first inning of the Cards/Dodgers game. The Cards scored 3 in their half but the LA has runners on 1st and 2nd with one out in their half.
The LA organist is playing the main riff of "Aqualung" to try to rally the fans. Never heard that before. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Mets @ Pirates. John Jaso was able to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th then win in the bottom of the 10th. | |

| Cardinals pen imploded yet again in the 8th inning today and STL lost 8-4 to the Rockies. If the pen had held we'd be heading to extra innings.
The Cardinals bullpen is downright awful! _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Mets @ Pirates. Glasnow's pitching the way he's been doing for a good part of the season and the Buccos are down 5-1. | |

| Today I watched the Cardinals sleepwalk their way through another game while losing to LA 5-1. STL only had 5 hits and the one run they managed to push across home plate scored without benefit of a hit. Ugh. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| So far this year the NL Central is pretty pathetic. Anything near a .500 record has you in contention. Fortunately the Cubs don't appear to be as good as they were last year so this division looks to be wide open. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I was actually just checking the standings and thought the same thing. The Pirates are 5 games under .500 and are 4.5 games back. Any other division and they'd be in double digits back. | |

| The Pirates ended up winning 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th. Tony Watson gives up a 2 run homer in the top of the 9th to have the Diamondbacks tie it up. The struggling Andrew McCutchen leads off the bottom of the 9th with an opposite field homer to walk it off. | |

| I keep hearing rumors of McCutchen being on the trade block.
What say you 007 Pirates fan?
Personally I think Pittsburgh has treated him shabbily the last year and a half or so. He used to be the face of the franchise. And now that he's struggling they seem to be trying to trade him. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Yeah they have treated him poorly. I was against trading him in the off season and am still against it. I didn't think moving him to right was that bad (since moved back to center due to Marge's suspension) and dropping him down in the batting order wasn't a bad move either, considering he's barely over .200 in batting average. I have a feeling his Pittsburgh career is going to end poorly and end up biting the team in the ass. He'll move on to another team and have a Hall Of Fame career. | |

| I give him a ton of credit for agreeing to move back to center after more or less being demoted to right instead of bitching about it; a lot of players would have. He's just a class act IMO.
The Cardinals just sent Randal Grichuk to A ball (!) and I think McCutchen would look great in the birds on the bat in right. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

A ball? What's up with that?

| Well the GM claims it's so he can "relax more". And because the A team is in Jupiter, FL where a lot fo the Cardinal trainers and coaches are. I call BS on that. I think it's a message. Stop striking out so damn much. Grichuk is looking more and more like the dreaded "4A player"; a guy who's too good for AAA ball but not good enough for the majors. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I got the Predators @ Penguins on and the Preds just got a goal waved off on a offsides challenge by the Pens. Very close to call. | |

| Watched the Diamondbacks @ Pirates. Ivan Nova pitched decent enough but Robbie Ray pitched better. The Pirates lost 3-0. | |

| Got home from work in time to catch the ending of a marathon Pirates and Diamondbacks game. It started at 12:30 and went into the 11th inning before an hour and a half rain delay. The Pirates ultimately lost it in the 14th 6-5. | |

| I'm watching the Cardinal pregame show and now I don't even really care if they win or lose.
Why? Because we FINALLY cut Jonathon FATBOY Broxton loose. He of the 6.80+ ERA. He's sucked for 2 years with St. Louis and I've cringed every time Matheny insisted on bringing Fatboy's lardass in to pitch. Now that temptation has been removed. Good Riddance!!!! No more FATBOY!!!! _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
