By your standards the Black Crowes are metal. that's all that matters, lol.
To some others, Zep and Aerosmith are hard rock (and hard rock isn't a dirty word implying that if it were metal it would somehow be better or have more merit, it's just a descriptive phrase)... and in turn the Black Crowes are hard rock too.
But it's all just a matter of perspective and favored personal descriptors, anyway.

He DOES sound like Jim Morrison. And apparently the members of the Doors think so too. Ian Astbury toured with them as the lead singer.
