New Redemption! Pretty straightforward metal song for them. Quite good, but not really expected.

Not a bad song but like you said it's not what you would expect from them.

Too brainy lyrics - on the wimpy side - but maybe there's metal heads - who need to learn the lyrics and sing them out loud in a room - as his wife is in the next room. Not my thing.

Never heard of them? It's Ray Alder's other band. They're usually much more progressive.

I like that. Might have to investigate a little more from this band. They have more albums out than I realized.

You too? Man, I thought these guys were much more well known to the average metal fan. Haha.
They're a great band.

I've heard of them and I know they've been discussed around here before. I guess I just never really bothered listening to them before. Not sure why though. I listened to quite a few tunes on YouTube and liked them well enough. I could see picking up something from them in the near future.

FYI, according to the Laser's Edge website, a 2 cd edition of this new album is coming...
Quote :
This is the domestic single disc version. Please note in the weeks to come we will have an import 2CD version with bonus material.
No other info at this time, but those considering making a purchase may want to wait and see what the bonus material is first.

Well this stinks...
Quote :
REDEMPTION, the U.S. progressive metal band led by guitarist/songwriter Nick Van Dyk, has parted ways with FATES WARNING vocalist Ray Alder and has replaced him with EVERGREY's Tom Englund.
REDEMPTION's current lineup — which is rounded out by Sean Andrews (bass) and Chris Quirarte (drums) — has finished recording its seventh full-length album, "Long Night's Journey Into Day", for an early 2018 release via Metal Blade. The disc was produced by Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, PRIMAL FEAR, AMARANTHE, DORO) and once again features guest appearances by guitarists Chris Poland (MEGADETH, OHM:) and Simone Mularoni (DGM).
"We are delighted to welcome Tom as the voice of REDEMPTION", said Van Dyk. "He has an incredibly powerful, soulful and emotional voice that our music really demands and we are quite confident that people will be blown away by what we have created together."

Surprising. Wonder why he's no longer in the band.
Englund is a great vocalist, but very different.

I'm not familiar with Tom Englund, but I suppose it will be fine. I'd hope that Nick Van Dyk would have sense enough to not hire some hack to sing on his album.

4 albums in....plus FW has had a nice resurgence of activity over the last few years...they're about to record a live album and will probably tour it as well.
