Yeah I thought it was excellent. The ending with the Japanese trade minister was cool. Looking forward to season 2.

I remember a few years ago, someone here brought up a late 1980s Rambo ripoff called Deadly Prey, one that I'm sure Fat Freddy would get quite a kick out of if he saw it.
Almost 30 years later, a sequel was released. This one more or less sees the Colonel Hogan, the main villain from the original, getting released from prison, and plotting revenge against Danton (the main character from the original). He gets many soldiers to get attack Danton, yet only he is allowed to kill him. Unintentional hilarity ensues. Plus, as perhaps to take a page from The Hunger Games franchise, this is broadcast live via the Internet.

Started a new series on Netflix this weekend...River
It's only 6 one-hour episodes. I got 3 down, 3 to go. It's not great, but it's interesting enough.

A fun return. I was playing "spot the Los Angeles locations" while watching. Episode one featured Echo Park Lake, Santa Anita Racetrack, the 6th Street bridge and of course the Universal studios backlot. Episode two featured Griffith Observatory.

Sicario (2015)
Holy crap! Man, that's an intense movie. Ballsy filmmaking with killer performances from Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro. One of the best from last year.

I finished this last night. Ugh. What a mess of an ending. The last episode got way too convoluted and basically throws everything you learned in the first 5 episodes right in the garbage. It made no sense.

State Of Emergency (2011) - a somewhat lethargic "zombie" movie about a chemical plant explosion that releases a toxin which causes people exposed to it to mutate into zombie-like psychopaths (think 28 Days Later). Four non-infected hole up in a warehouse waiting for rescue.

"Metal Obsession: Collecting Heavy Metal Records" (2016)
A cool indie documentary about heavy metal vinyl and the obsessed fans who still love it, including our very own Mr. Scott "Ultmetal" Waters! As these metal lifers start telling stories about discovering metal during its formative years it'll bring back a lot of memories. Nice work y'all.

"Vice Academy" (1989)
No budget T&A cop comedy about inept recruits trying to earn a place in the city's Vice squad by busting illegal porno and prostitution operations. The movie is dumb as dirt but it stars a lotta purty gurls, incl. '80s porn queen Ginger Lynn (in one of her periodic attempts at "straight" acting) and B-movie scream queen Linnea Quigley, and they spend much of the film in various states of undress. Therefore I was entertained. This long time late night cable fave was followed by five (!) sequels!

Do Your Job: Bill Belichick and the 2014 Patriots - documentary on the NFL network.
I'm not a Patriots fan, but the breakdown of several plays by Belichick and his other coaches was fascinating. Belichick is obviously insane, but damn do I wish he was coaching my team. His explanation of why he didn't call a time out at the end of the Superbowl right before Butler's interception was particularly good. He's a stone cold genius.

"Everly" (2014)
A call girl (Salma Hayek) is about to turn state's evidence on her Yakuza boyfriend, which naturally marks her for death... so she has to shoot her way out of an apartment building crawling with hired killers in order to save her little daughter. The plot of this flick was probably written on a cocktail napkin but it's an entertaining little low budget shoot'em up, kinda like a "Die Hard" variant with way better cleavage. Your mileage may vary depending on how much you perv on Salma Hayek. I personally would watch a film of her reading the phone book for two hours, so I enjoyed it.
