I don't know, I didn't listen to an awful lot of HIM. It was a brief impression I got.

Maybe it was just the Finnish accent. Usually I'm pretty good with this comparison thing.

Not this time. Haha. He sounds a lot like those somber goth dudes, like To/Die/For.

Yeah, I think To Die For would be a good comparison. I like TDF.

Absolutely killer band! I still need their latest two. Damn those imports!

A friend of mine has all their stuff. He played them for me and I was quite blown away. Almost like a more metal Depeche Mode (in a way).

I still need to acquire their discs. They are on the list. They are only available as imports huh? Lame.

You can usually find Epilogue, their second album, in stores in the US. The rest I've never seen. I bought All Eternity and Jaded used online over the years.

Venus Doom is a much heavier cd, the vocals are still not for me.-TJ

Exactly.

For me to vocals are 60-70% of the music, if i hate the vocals i hate the music.

I've done that with a few bands before and sometimes end up becomeing a fan (IE Fear Factory, GZR, SYL, System of a Down, Sepultura, Soulfly, Tool, ect ect ect ect ect ect)

Yeah, I can understand why someone wouldn't like the vocals of HIM. I personally think they are great - but this is what held me back from liking them before.

I guess the reason I like their new album is because it has so much doom metal in it. I wasn't expecting that. I still didn't like the vocals much either at first listen ... but then they kinda grew on me. Now I'm thinking Ville is a pretty good singer.

I might have to go back and fork out the cash for their whole catalogue. Just based on "Venus Doom" these guys are becoming a favorite.
