Live show concert routines

I'm just wondering what folks tend to do here prior to seeing a live show or concert. Most of the time when I pay for an expensive concert ticket it's to see a band or bands I've probably been a fan of for some time and are well versed in their catalog but for smaller house shows or something that has either cheap doors or is free I usually don't know many of the bands unless they are a friends band or something like that and I want to see the bands live without knowing much about their sound or studio recorded albums. So my question is do you tend to go into a show blindly if you haven't heard/seen the band in awhile or have never heard them ever, Or do you get a refresher or just look into the other bands you are unfamiliar with before going?

Usually I go to dinner cuz most shows I see now are at a casino. I don't think I have ever seen a band (not the main attraction anyway) that I didn't know pretty well. The only one that comes to mind was BOC last year for free at Mohegan Sun Casino, and even then, I have a few albums and know all the "hits" from the radio. I do find myself "binging" on a bands catalog the week or days leading up to seeing them though. No matter how much of an old fave, this seems to always happen.
