Last night the wife and I caught Whitesnake. I have been a fan for nearly 30 years but had never seen Coverdale and the boys live before. They opened the show with the Deep Purple classic, "Burn" as they are currently touring in support of the "Purple Album," a reworking of classic DP tracks. They played a few more from the new album (You Keep on Moving, Gypsy, and You Fool No One) and five from the landmark self titled ("Bad Boys", "Here I Go Again", "Is This Love", "Still of the Night", and "Give Me All Your Love"). Technically, it was six if you count them doing part of "Children of the Night" in the middle of "Bad Boys." They played "Slide It In" and "Love Ain't No Stranger" from SII but nothing at all from Slip of the Tongue.

Highlights: The Six String Showdown from Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra. Tommy Aldridge's amazing drum solo. DC dedicating "You Keep on Moving" to the late great Jon Lord and Tommy Bolin. They played for nearly 2 hours and really had a great time doing it.

Lowlights: Nothing really except not hearing a few songs I was hoping for like "Strormbringer," or "Soldier of Fortune," or "Walkin' in the Shadow of the Blues." But, I imagine that with any band that's been around this long there will always be crowd favorites left of the list in favor of others.

I can't wait to see them again!

Here's a song for ya:

Was gonna write my own review but I will build on yours...we saw Whitesnake at The Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa Oklahoma 8/13... Low point was the sound. They were way overloading the PAsystem and the sound was pretty bad. (I think they were using the House PA with the House sound guy) At one point it sounded like listening to a cassette through old Kraco speakers in your car on 10. Near the end Coverdales voice was pretty shot as he was screaming near the end (think Sam Kinison)...Like the Sentenil I was hoping they would have played Stormbringer and was hoping for Ain't No Love (In the heart of The City)...Actually the highlight for me was the Tommy Aldridge drum solo...that guy is a legend (and thats coming from a guitar player)...had a good time..

" Children Of The Night " ( Dracula, called his wolves that ) best -
as I listened to the CD, by the way, I noticed 7 of the 9 songs -

I am a mega-Coverdale fan - but I heard when they went through here a few months ago that they were just gonna play Purple tunes and nothing else. I would have spent the 70 bucks to see the show you reviewed!
