| Ramirez was a player I hated to see get traded back in the dark days (and then play against with both the Cubs and Brewers). He's been a phenomenal player and I'm glad he's back with the team for his last season.
Edit : And Locke is the WORST. Pirates tie it up and he proceeds to give up 2 more runs in the bottom of the inning. He really needs to go.

| Well Lyons gave up a solo shot to Zimmerman so the Cards are losing 2-1 in the fourth. If they can pull this one out by some miracle, they'll have beaten the Nats the last two games using minor league pitchers to start. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| There's something about the Nats that I love to see them lose. Probably all the preseason hype they get year after year. | |

| Well it's now 2-2 in the 5th.
I know what you mean about the Nats. I feel the same way about the Dodgers and the Angels. I get so tired of reading pre-season predictions that those teams should dominate. And the Nats fall into that same category lately, Giants too.
What I find funny is that even though the Cardinals have been a good, competitive team year in, year out for about the last 10 years, no one ever talks about them. And that's just fine by me. Keep ignoring "flyover country", we'll keep dominating your "big media outlet teams".
You know, when I think about all the teams I hate in MLB, I actually think I'd take any of the top 3 NL Central teams over any of the "hyped" teams. The Cubs are sort of annoying because they seem to think they're ready when really they're a year or two away but still...Compared to the Giants, Dodgers, Angels, Yankees, Red Sox, Nats and a bunch of other teams, they're not nearly as hateable. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Broxton gave up a run in the 8th and STL lost 4-3. The big series starts tomorrow. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| The Pirates again lose in Milwaukee (what is it with that city) 9-4. Ramirez knocked in all the runs for the Pirates. I can't help but think this team is looking past the Brewers towards the Cards series. | |

| Watched the Pirates blow yet another game to the Brewers 5-3. I don't understand this team. They've killed the NL East, NL West and interleague play but can't win in their own division. They have 3 games with the Cards starting tonight and then move onto Cincinnati. This does not bode well for them and I'm getting a bad feeling about it. | |

| Pretty bad to get swept four games by the Brewers. Now they'll probably explode over the weekend. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| And that's the second time being swept by the Brewers since the All Star Break. Pathetic, if you ask me. | |

Wow, you ain't lyin'! I looked it up. The Cards are 32-18 against the NL Central; the Pirates are 21-32. That's the season right there. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Found this paragraph in the preview to tonight's game: - Quote :
- Six teams in the majors won at least 19 games in August, and three of them were in the same division. There wasn’t a day in August where the Cardinals, Pirates, and Cubs all lost a game, and the two wild-card teams, Pittsburgh and Chicago, never lost on the same day. Pittsburgh went 19-8 in August and only gained a half game on the Cardinals.

| Here we go...just like I figured, Pittsburgh is going to bleed us to death.
Kang with a little bloop behind first for an RBI and now a broken-bat RBI hit by Marte. Just like I figured; the Bucs rolled over and died for Milwaukee but now they're going to get all the breaks. Typical baseball. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| OK, that first inning for the Bucs had a bunch of flukey hits but there's no denying how dominant Happ has been tonight. We're in the 7th and he's only allowed two hits. Even taking the 1st inning lucky hits away, the Pirates would still be leading 2-0 and Happ is just dominating the Cardinal hitters.
EDIT: And the Pirates just tacked on another run off the STL pen. Figures. This game is all Happ; the Cards laid a turd. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Yeah Happ's been phenomenal his last 4 starts. His first with the Pirates against the Cubs was horrid and had people griping about how horrid an addition he was to the team. They're not griping anymore. | |

| And another run off the pen. It's now 6-1 Bucs.
I'm going to bed; this one's over. Waste 'em now Pirates.
Nice job Happ. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Where was this team against the Brewers ?
Don't worry Toho, you'll get the game right back tomorrow with Charlie Morton pitching for the Bucs. He'll give us 4 or 5 great innings then meltdown and give up about 4 runs.

| So far it's 2-0 Cards in the third. And so far today the baseball gods have been smiling on St. Louis. Early in yesterday's game, the Pirates scored a pair of runs on some real cheap hits. Well today in the 2nd inning, the Cards scored 2 runs on NO hits.
Funny how those things usually even out over the long haul.
EDIT: That was a great catch by Rodriguez in right in the bottom of the fourth. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Well Morton didn't have his meltdown but I feel this game is over. The offense decided not to show although you gotta give props to the opposing pitcher. | |

| So Carpenter cranks a 2 run shot basically ending the game. I decided to change the channel to watch Penn State at Temple. And Penn State's losing 24-10 ? Unthinkable | |

Wow, we've already had several big upsets in NCAAF today (Northwestern over Stanford, SDSU over Kansas) and I see BGSU is beating UT as well. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Uh oh. Matheny decides to use Rosenthal even though it's not a save situation. I don't like when managers do this because a lot of times the closer isn't expecting to come into the game.
EDIT: Sure enough. Struck out the first two batters but then a pinch single, a wild pitch and another pinch single and now it's 4-1.
AND here we go. A walk. Tying run at the plate.
WHEW! Strikeout. That was WAAAAAAY too interesting in the 9th. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Today I watched the Rays/Yankees game while I was housecleaning. It's amazing how fast the wheels can come off. Tampa's Chris Archer was cruising along with a 3-0 lead and a 1 hit shutout with two outs and a man on in the 6th then a few batters later, a 3 run homer and a solo shot by A-Rod on the very next pitch put the Yankees into the lead for good.
I also saw Kris Bryant's 495ft homer on the MLB Network highlights. Longest homer in MLB this year. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
