| Mustaine and Ellefson have money. Let them cover the cost. There's no need for big recording budgets these days. | |

| Yes. I wanna know why they're suddenly resorting to this. They hire on two established replacements and now this. What the hell happened? | |

| It isn't strange, it's absolutely following the new industry practice of using something that had a pretty noble principle and bastardizing it to the point that it is just another way to rip off the long suffering fans. Once again it has absolutely nothing to do with funding the album or providing an alternative to the big label system, it's a gimmick. £65 for a signed vinyl LP?!!! Mustaine can sign my ass! | |

| Surely the price of the CD will come down ? I can't see them justifying that price at all. | |

Truth. I think alot of these guys are crowdfunding their vacations along with the music. I will purchase it when it comes out, at a much reduced price. EDIT EDIT EDIT: This really isn't crowdfunding at all, just offering stuff at inflated prices. The album is being made regardless, there is no goal for fundraising.

| Are they in such a bad financial way or do they just not make money from albums anymore and have to resort to this??!!! Maybe the record company does not want to put up the money for a new album, the risk being to great??!! I thought that Super Collider charted well and sold a reasonable amount of copies. | |

| This rubbed me the wrong way when Queensryche did it and it's not winning me over here either.
That said, as a merch booth, this isn't a bad setup and some of the prices for signed stuff aren't horrid. The Mustaine book in hardcover signed for $45? A little pricey, but hardly highway robbery when you consider the price of the book itself.
Now, the pre-orders on the album itself are absurd. Totally. Even if they were only going to sell a very limited number of copies (which I doubt is the case since Megadeth is still a marquee name), they're hardly going for broke making this album.

| Since it's not a traditional Kickstarter campaign to raise recording funds, I think it's just a way of deferring some of the cost of the actual recording and production of the album. With Dave handling his own label now, he's realizing all the costs that the record company used to cover is now coming out of HIS pocket and it's expensive.
I'm not saying it's right or fair to exploit the fans, but on the other hand, noone's forcing us to pay either. Unless he holds the record hostage and makes us cough-up inflated prices, I'll get mine the same way I've been doing, either on-line or at a store. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

My first thought is to avoid a record label. BUT, they'll probably go the Harem Scarem route and still license to a label after it's done. _________________ FINAL SIGN

My first thought is to avoid a record label. BUT, they'll probably go the Harem Scarem route and still license to a label after it's done. Super Collider was issued under Dave's Tradecraft label, but in a partnership with Universal Music Enterprises, a division of Universal Music Group. While nothing has been stated yet, he'll probably go that rout again (or some other big label) for this record too. No way is he doing all the recording, promotion, distribution, booking and touring on his own dime. Someone has to help out in that respect. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. I'm learning through my own work experiences. It's just an educated guess on my part, but I can see the reasoning. When my company owned a certain basketball team and we did their promotional work for them, no request was too big or unrealistic. The sky was the limit. We'd make back costs in the end. After they were sold and we now had to charge them for such requests, they began to realize how expensive it was. It's sort of the same thing here. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was.
