Indie rock criticisms: true or false?

I agree this assessment as well. The only artist I think really followed, who more or less was linked to the whole "Indie" thing, was Elliott Smith. As much as I liked Elliott Smith, man did I have to be in a good place to listen to his music. If one was depressed or more the glass is half empty person, good luck listening to his music and not spiraling further into a dark place.
