Kmorg and Olafsto...tell me about Norway

Preface: Norway is my #1 pick of places I want to go to travel to that the wife and I haven't gone to yet. It's very high on the bucket list.

So I've been watching Lilyhammer on Netflix. Once I got past the goofy caricature that Johhny is (every Mafia stereotype, and played in such a weird, lurching manner) I really like this show.

One of the major stars of the show for me is Lillehammer herself. Beautiful! Every episode I say to myself "I wish I lived there!" I do have some questions, though, for our native Norwegians.

How do you guys find the Norway that's portrayed in the show? Is the show being accurate?

Do they get the cultural things right? Both the good, bad and the quirky? (The way people interact, the red-tape, the general cheerfulness and neighborliness, the way people "talk things out" instead of other forms of discipline, etc...)

Is there really that much snow nearly year-round in Lillehammer? (I love the personal sled/conveyance things that people push themselves around in. Love those! I want one.)

What else about Norway do you want to volunteer? I love the one character who worked for Homeland Security that calmed down by listening to Norwegian Black Metal. Funny little joke they made there.

By the way, and I might be alone here, but I found Silje Torp to be oddly attractive. ??? She's  unique and exotic looking.

So, yeah, this show has definitely added to my desire to visit Norway someday.

I believe that.  When I was in Sweden on business back around 1990 or so, I paid $8 USD per bottle for Spendrups Gold.  I expensed it out as "meal money" so I didn't care but I couldn't believe it.  

I was told the reason it was so expensive is because Sweden taxes the hell out of alcohol.  And apparently Finland doesn't because that's why the ferries from Stockholm to Finland were always full; people were making a "cross-country beer run".  So I guess Norway has similar policies to what Sweden had back then?
