| Watched Dracula untold. Great flick! I've Been burned out on vampire flicks for sometime now, but this was a cool twist on the classic Dracula mythos. I liked how they took history and blended it into fantasy to make a very interesting story. Easily my favorite Dracula film.
Anyone else see it? Thoughts?

| Can't say I liked it that much. One of my friends who works at Universal told me the original script was amazing but he felt the director interpreted it poorly. Too many fantasy elements for me, I prefer Dracula in classic gothic horror mode, not CGI action mode. This felt like "I wonder if we can take Dracula and cross it with Lord Of The Rings and Game Of Thrones?".
Fans of fantasy films will most likely enjoy it more than I did. |

| Didn't even want to touch this one. There are three Dracula's that have been enough for me: the original with Lugosi, the Horror Hammer version, and the John Badham version. Also the Nosferatu titles. Outside of that is a bunch of overbaked meh (and don't get me started on that crappy Coppola debacle). | |

That makes sense, as I am a huge fan of the genre.

See, I agree with everything you said there.... that's why I was pleasantly suprised with this one.

| The book, by Bram Stoker, remains, top of all the heap, for me. I will say this - there's a book called Werewolves - by O'donell - I highly recommend it - Do they have a cool werewolf movie out yet ? | |

| I liked the movie "the wolfman" with anthony hopkins. It mimicked the classic feel of the old movies. | |

| There was a movie where - Jack Nicholson - turned into a wolf - I thought it was a fun movie - I think Michele Phiffer was in it too - Thanks for the heads-up - Hopkins is pretty good - never knew that he took on the classic wolfman role ! | |

Agreed. Quite an excellent film I think. I think what held it back a bit was the R rating. I didn't mind it, but it limited it's audience.

| I believe that this flick was intended to be the start of a Marvel-style "shared universe" series of interlocking films featuring the classic Universal Monsters (Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein, etc.) but "Dracula Untold" performed poorly at the box office so it may not happen now. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| ^^ I had heard that as well and you're probably right, it won't happen now. Probably for the best, too. | |
