I knew this came out but I also knew how all over the place this band can be (not everything they've done sounds like "No Fuel Left For the Pilgrims") as you've pointed out.
What is your overall impression of the set and is it worth it?
I too was familiar with how their albums tend to be all over the place from the reviews I've read. I had not actually heard much of it though. It's going to take me awhile to plow through this set as I want to take time with each album (aside from No Fuel & Riskin', which I had already). So far, I've like what I hear. The early cowpunk stuff is fun. Reminds me a little of Ghoultown in some places.
As far as box sets go, I think it's quality for the price I paid. I found it brand new on Amazon for $49.99 (free shipping), which is cheap compared to some other places online ($100+). And since alot of their albums tend to be pricey imports, I feel like I got a bargain. 11 albums and a disc of rarities for about $4.16 each. The booklet is chock-full of info, lyrics and pics too. It's basically a reprint of all the original liner notes, plus some.
Oddly enough, a week prior to ordering this, I had thrown in 3 low-ish bids for 3 other D:A:D albums. Naturally, I won all three auctions. D'oh!! So now I have doubles of 5 of the 12 albums in the set. With any luck I can make back some of that $50 I spent flipping them on ebay.

Graviators - Motherload
All Hell Let Loose - Neat Records compilation on cassette from 1982. This was an Italian release on both CS and vinyl. It's an abbreviated version of Neat's 60 Minute Plus compilation that had 16 tracks. This one only has 12 tracks.
It's loaded with good material, but my favorite is the 1982 version of Crucifixion's "The Fox"

Some REALLY NICE record finds from Dimple and Delta Breeze Records! Also one Cd from Amazon.
The CD: Stormkro - Some Odd Years (If you like Wooden Nickel era Styx, you will totally dig this. Finally, a Styx influenced band that concentrates on the Prog side instead of the AOR side! From 1996. Too bad that it is their only release!)
The LPs: Raven - Mad (I'll see if this redeems post Live At The Inferno Raven.) TT Quick - Metal of Honor (Saw it, sampled it, bought it) Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries (Found this one CHEAP! NM!) Billy Satellite - Billy Satellite The B'zz - Get Up The Boyzz - Too Wild to Tame Jimmy Smith - Off the Top Jimmy Smith - Keep on Comin' Steven Halpern & Dallas Smith - 1984: Newsound Steven Halpern - Eventide Steven Halpern - Prelude William Ackerman - Conferring With the Moon Manfred Mann Chapter Three - Manfred Mann Chapter Three Golden Bough - The Boatman's Daughter (I like the Celtic rock band Tempest. This is the band Leif was originally in before.) John McLaughlin - Devotion The Rods - Let Them Eat Metal ( I had previously missed out on a Rods album before. Didn't let this one slip away) Various Artists - Hardrock '83 (KISS, Thin Lizzy, Lita Ford, DIO, Rush, Black Sabbath, Coney Hatch, GOlden Earring, Picture, Nazareth) Sound Barrier - Total Control Martin Denny - Latin Village Aviator - Aviator

I have one by them that I got in the $1 used bin ages ago. Just bought it for the name. I don't remember a thing about it.

They're pretty good. Not always consistent, but they have some great tunes.
My intro to the band.
