I saw Adam Bomb " I want my Heavy Metal" tour - winter time - a small club - they showed up very late - 1:30 am or so - people were actually leaving - it was a Tuesday or Wednesday The owner ( heavy metal night) kept insisting the band was on his way people were booing - bitching - complaining - they finally arrived and started playing - LOUD - The hot babes couldn't even stand near the stage - no one could stand infront of the stage -

I believe the loudest show I ever attended was Judas Priest on the Screaming For Vengeance tour when the made a stop in my town. By the time came through, the PA system was set up to be used in bigger arenas, but the played a small hockey arena (3500 seats) and blew my then 17 year old ears to smithereens. I had the hum/ring last for days, as did a ton of my friends who also attended.

Great White at the Spectrum. I could feel my pants vibrating from the soundwaves. Seriously.

It's Philly. I guarantee that was not the soundwaves....

Scraping Fetus Off the Wheel at the Uptowner, [small diner in Minneapolis]. 86-87ish. Thirlwell never cared for various ordinances, I think.

Stryper or Mötley, mid 80's. Priest was loud too.

I dunno if this counts as been to, but I've played in quite a heavy doom band a few years ago. We where measured at the bar at around 150 db for about 20/30mins (quite a small club) on average.
I believe Motorhead have been recorded at about 160db, you have loss of hearing about 180db. Yeah, I still have good hearing and count myself lucky. I don't attend shows any more - not even with ear plugs. I haven't for about 2 years.

Besides Motorhead and Manowar, UFO last year was extremely loud.

Dee Snider's Widowmaker, circa 1993. The gig was in a shoe box sized club but the band brought enough amps for Madison Square Garden... and I was right up front. Yea, it was LOUD. I swear I didn't hear a damn thing for about three days. I was seriously considering seeking medical attention cuz I was starting to get scared that real damage had been done. Fortunately my hearing started returning by day #4.

Ministry, it was so loud, I took a dollar bill tore it, crumpled it into a ball and stuck them in my ears.

I don't know about the loudest... but from a bass perspective, King's X was massive.

God Lives Underwater/Korn/KMFDM
I was there to see GLU and KMFDM but frickin' Korn ruined the whole show. Their bass was so amped up that by the time their interminable set was finally over, I had a splitting headache. I tried to tough it out for KMFDM's set but I had to leave before the set was even half over.
Just another reason I hate Korn.

For all of the metal bands I've seen, it has to be these guys
It was an open air gig at Crystal Palace athletics ground I was was down near the front waiting for The Sisters off Mercy, the bass was so loud that it was physically uncomfortable and I had to move back, they also were not very good.

As a side note - I have a Suno))) Model T amp. It has two power settings. One is marked 'club' the other is marked 'arena'. Let's just say, Saturday nights is spent with the thing turned to 'arena'.

I have to smile at some of these stories - even though hearing loss sucks - SAXON - " Innocence Is No Excuse " tour - small club - it was so Loud - I thought I could just casually speak to the person next to me - and expected that they'd hear me -

Motorhead made my chest cavity feel like it was being punched with every beat of the drum.

Motorhead, hands down! I'm glad I had ear plugs. Holy cow, my buddy was stuffing toilet paper in his ears. Then when you thought it couldn't get any louder, Lemmy shouts, "is it loud enough for you? Turn it up and deafen these mothafuckas!" Haha!

Motorhead for me too. It was in a small club and the noise was unbelievable. Like Ult, I had earplugs and put them in immediately!

I've been to thousands of concerts all across the country. Nobody was louder than Motorhead, though I've read that Manowar might top Motorhead.

Aerosmith/Megadeth in the 90s. It was painful. Not musically, but because of the piercing treble and volume.

I saw most bigger bands (multiple Motorhead and Manowar shows included), but the loudest were local shows with stoner/neo/post metal bands like Grrizli Madams or The Canyon Observer.
