| Believe it or not, I am posting another review! This time it's an album most have probably forgotten - Grand Magus - Triumph and Power. This was released way back in January and seemed to be met with complete indifference in most quarters. Here's a link to my review:
http://themetalblogofmetal.blogspot.com/2014/09/heart-clad-in-iron-soul-clad-in-steel.html
Briefly, I like the album. It's mostly composed of mid-paced tracks and a couple of longer epic cuts. If you were hoping for doom metal, you are out of luck. It does take a few spins to sink in, but I think it's worth your time.
Thanks for reading! | |

| Man, I have a lot of their records. They never seem to rid themselves of the slightly 'stoner rock' tag. I know they are rooted in pure Heavy Metal, but that slight whiff of 'sludge-laid-riff' is always present. Not that it's a bad thing, just need to sharpen up the guitar tone and it would be perfect (in my opinion).
Must have played this about five times this week, so that has to be a good thing? Most albums I don't give more than one spin if I'm not fussed on it. | |

| The only Grand Magus albums I really like are the first 3 when they still had more of the stoner influence. Some of the material when they went more straight-ahead metal was okay, but not really a sound I gravitate toward very often these days. Then they started with all the warriors and battles and vikings and "saddle up my trusty steed" stuff and I was outta there. |

| I love the vocals Janne Christoffersson did for Spiritual Beggars album 'On Fire'. That man has an excellent voice, not just for the heavy side of things if he ever branched out to different styles. | |

| Yes, he has an excellent voice, he also sang on the Spiritual Beggars album Demons, which was the followup to On Fire.

| I have that one as well. Another great release. I thought 'On Fire' was a slightly better album. Both excellent and worth checking out for the Grand Magus fan here. | |
