I think it's more about the current generation using google translate instead of actual translators (ie. people who know the language).
In the old days, people who didn't know English honestly just didn't know any English. Nowadays everyone knows English. Just google the translation... and there it is!
No matter if you have no idea what you just copied and pasted...
