Well Monty has given me some pushes towards bands I usually avoid like the plague. Thus changing my opinion that extreme bands CAN'T be unique, poetic, melodic, and remain powerful/brutal.

Yeah RP turned me on to a lot of glam and sleaze bands.  Not the least of which is my current favorite band, Diamond Dogs.

The more I think about it, the more I think this dude actually changed my musical tastes.  When I first joined this hoard years ago, I was in the throes of power metal, symphonic metal and female-fronted symphonic power metal.

Then RP posted about some band (I wish I could remember which one) and I posted something like "That reminds me of a rougher-edged Black Crowes".  A few "Soho Roses", "Backwash", "Rose Tattoo" and "Diamond Dogs" albums later, my music tastes totally changed and remain that way today. 

This was the poster who "baptized" me into the glam/sleaze genre and made me realize it was my favorite timeless style.

Man, I forgot all about Nazgul/Brent from Washington state. He's high on my list as well.

I need to give a shoutout to DeathCult as well, he turned me into a major Blue Oyster Cult fan. I had always liked some of their stuff but never collected them, he showed me the error of my ways. Also got me into Mott The Hoople and expanded my Frank Zappa knowledge. Cheers DC.

Thanks a lot my friend. I'm just glad that you found some value in anything I've said. Most times I'm just trying to make a case that the extreme stuff isn't always devoid of melody/talent/intelligence/value that many assume it is.

Definitely Ult for me. I discovered Scott sometime in 1999 or 2000 and he pretty much opened up a whole new world for me. I used to e-mail him all the time at least weekly until the discussion board got going.
