Influential HoM?

This thread is for those who have discovered bands/artists based on recommendations from other HoM members. List those who have influenced you the most, from most to least. List examples if possible...

I would say Eyesore as #1 for me. He has given me Earl Greyhound/Kamara Thomas, Squad 21, Xandria, Lucia Cifarelli, Colporter, Ramallah, & others.

Also S.D. turned me on to Black Moth & a few others.

Who is your picks?

I'd say Eyesore & Orion Crystal Ice although SD, Shaun of fire & Nevermore have also turned me on to some really cool stuff.

Metal Guy, Thrasher, and Fat Freddy

To me it would be S.D. for sure

Ultmetal for me - I started reading nolifetilmetal years ago (I think I discovered NLTM through Lord God Space's website - if anyone remembers that) and picked up a bunch of stuff based on Scott's reviews. I sent him a cdr of some Motorhead b-sides from the 1916 era way back then too.

I figured most here would name him, because of his site. I know a lot of the guys here used to pair up & do "mix tapes" for each other too.

Good question. S.D. for sure when it comes to prog and jazz. Witchfinder has a great knowledge of USPM that has expanded my library. MetalRob gave me a host of contemporary power metal to enjoy. Boris has turned me onto some darker stuff. And chewie has helped me with some prog as well.

All in all, everyone here has in some form. Call this my top five. And I would say ult but it was more through his website than here that I discovered a lot of great artists.

Krokus has clued me in to some pretty cool bands. I really like his video reviews and he has cost me a lot of cash.

Yes, Krokus indeed, and the late SpectreFate actually belongs in my top five.

Krokus & Wargod the most for me. But in hindsight, I believe that almost every poster has clued me in on one band or another.

SideShowDisaster hooked me onto a thousand thrash bands (I still owe him an Xmas comp review!).

I would have to sat Ult, Witchfinder and Boris. They've turned me onto music from classic stuff to NWOBHM stuff to more doomier stuff.

FF, Metalguy and MetalRob have had an impact, as well.

I still like the same bands that I had before I came here. Other than that, ultmetal's reviews sometimes help me out.

Stormspell certainly does count.

Exact - a fellow progressive rock brother.

Manny - Dude has an encyclopedic knowledge of rock.

Joker - helped me rediscover my love for Iron Maiden and also got me to really appreciate their newer material.

Rattpoison (blast from the past, eh? - he turned me onto a bunch of proto metal stuff)

MC666 - he helped me find some death metal and black metal I dig.

Boris - Thanks for keeping me up to date with what's happening in the UK.
