Guardians of the Galaxy.... ohhhhh yeaaaahhhhh.....

anybody else think this movie stole the summer????

when it was first announced I was sorta ambivalent about it.... I was thinking WHAT!  But after the slow build with the various trailers ( I purposely slowed down my trailer intake because too much info ruins the film) but this one kept building and building....


I've seen it twice so far (only other film I saw twice this year was Godzilla).  I am a big Marvel fan and have been so amazed over the last 6 years how these films have just been juggernauts... So long as they're good films I'll see 'em.... they're not Citizen Kane, but not supposed to be.... and if I keep hearing about realism I'll puke.... you want realism watch CSpan or something....

Amazing movie. I had no desire to see it, but the kids wanted to so I took them on Saturday. I was completely blown away by it.

I probably won't get to see it till it hits DVD but I'm looking forward to it. My brother saw it this past weekend and he loved it.

...plus, I wanna see the "secret" post-credits sequence I've heard so much about.

I had no desire to see it either, but it's getting such good word-of-mouth recommendations from co-workers and such that I'll probably watch it at some point. Cable or dvd.

I don't remember the Guardians comic book, but I must've had some Rocket Raccoon comics when I was a kid. He looked familiar.

I was a big time comic geek in the 80s and 90s and I only have vague memories of the Guardians. I guess they rarely appeared in any of my usual "reads."

I know I had an issue of a Marvel black-and-white magazine devoted to Star-Lord, the leader of the Guardians, and I also had all four issues of the Rocket Raccoon mini-series that MG71 posted above. Aside from those, every once in awhile I might have seen the Guardians mentioned in passing in other books but for the most part they pretty much passed me by.

If I had to guess, the only reason I had that comic was because it was packaged in with some other assorted comics that I picked off the bargain rack in the grocery store shopping with mom.  

The Original Guardians of the Galaxy comics came out in the late 60s, not quite sure how long the run went but it was a Silver Age title....

Apparently (since I don't buy comics much anymore) the film was based on a new series that came out within the last 5-10 years apparently....

This film isn't Iron Man or Captain America its a different animal entirely but still has the Marvel flair.... the sound track is phenominal (pure 60s 70s rock/soul worship) and it works....

This is a film to be seen on the big screen...

I thought it was an excellent movie. The version of the Guardians portrayed in the film I am unfamiliar with (although I knew all the characters) because it's the version in it's current incarnation but it didn't affect my enjoyment of the film one bit. I look forward to the sequel.

Fantastic film - I really liked it!!!

Saw it and thought it was great as well. Zoe Saldana is becoming the Queen of Sci-Fi. Got no complaints about that!

Even in the makeup and all she was still quite hot !

I never read 'Guardians of the Galaxy' comic book when I was reading comics, and don't recall any of the characters.

I at first had no interest in seeing the film, but then the trailers got better. Went and saw the movie, and it blew away my exceptions.

I liked it...I didn't love it and felt it was a little overhyped.

I should be seeing it later this week.

The value of the first issue of Rocket Raccoon's 1985 mini series has indeed shot thru the roof... there's one on eBay goin' for $300 clams. Oy!! Wish I still had mine.

Incredible. I never gave the character the time of day back then. I just wasn't too interested in him. Talk about missing out.

Loved it, absolutely great flick and soundtrack. Zoe Saldana looks great in it too.

I thought Nebula looked cool as well, Karen Gillan still managed to look good underneath all the blue makeup.  The skintight outfit looks good on her 5 foot, 11 inch frame.

Neither did I.... seemed silly at the time...

Took my son to see it a bit over a week ago. We both loved it! The young fella thinks Groot is awesome. I knew a bit about Guardians from comics, though I'm surprised such a second-tier group got a movie, and one as well funded as this one was.

I'm hanging for a Marvel flick where Thanos is the main bad guy. He was always my favorite villain from my comic collecting days. I VERY much hope Marvel is working towards an Infinity Gauntlet flick, and not just teasing us old comic nerds with it.

It's pretty obvious they are building to that in Avengers 3......
