The latest Iced Earth for sure, but then again I haven't really purchased much anything else. I predict Triptykon, Arch Enemy, and Holy Moses to be up there, amongst others.

Just realized I haven't picked up too many albums this year so far. I do like the 2014 releases I have picked up so far: Steel Panther, Iced Earth, Black label Society, Within Temptation, Red Dragon Cartel, KXM, Metal Church

Vader - Tibi Et Igni
Then again, I already feel like nominating Goatwhore's new album even though it hasn't come out yet. I wish it was out already so I can wear it out. Also, Septicflesh is almost ready to hit the shelves in the US this month.

Saor - Aura
The more I hear this record, the more convinced I am that it's an absolute masterpiece. Austin Lunn (Panopticon main & indeed only man) plays drums on this record. I can't see this not being a top ten record.

Arch enemies war eternal would be my choice so far. Brilliant album and dare I say it but the best album they have ever done in my humble opinion and I've been following them since before angela.
Of the other new releases I've bought this year I would rank them as follows:
Austrian death machine - triple brutal (close 2nd for me. Love this album) Iced earth - plagues of babylon Judas priest - redeemer of souls
Not bought much new stuff this year. Did pick up the latest fates warning the other day which I know was released last year but its bloody brilliant

It's album of the midyear. Anything released now does not count
