I heard that there was a My Little Pony convention not too long ago and the women that were there with their young daughters were shocked and disgusted that adult males were there.

Women are becoming more masculine due to feminism and males are now considered second class citizens. Beta males (also known as manginas or white Knights) have fallen for the feminism trap and want to appear harmless.

i doubt my daughter would be amused some adult men would want to engage in MLP trading cards.

I asked by daughters, 13 and 10 (and big My Little Pony fans) what they think of "bronies". "Wierd" and "goofy" were the responses, with wrinkled faces.
I don't get it, but what do I know?

I'm not a fan myself, but I would never judge someone else just because they liked a kids show(heck, there's a lot of kids shows I genuninely enjoy).
I think ult is referring to the cult obsession and how far it's come. A lot of guys are kind of put off by it (I just shrug).
Here's a decent explanation I found from a redditor:
"IMO, it's how FiM exploits cliches, where the story implies an obvious conclusion, but then goes a different way entirely. Otherwise perfect character designs are an effective way to set up different characters; it requires less changes and fewer flaws to set up a new character. A good example is Trixie; simply putting a hat and cape on a blue unicorn completely makes the character visuals complete, but that'd never work if clothing was normal in the show. Alot of the appeal is the "meme-ability" of the show, where the facial expressions and visual composition is just too easy to exploit. Whether it's intentional or not, it works and we like it. As for some sort of "hidden shame-filled pleasure", well I don't really see how that's possible, since most bronies are fairly open about the fandom. I mean, are we secretly liking something so much that we have to tell people about it? That's kinda silly. Oh, and you're never too old to like cartoons; "Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.....When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up." - C. S. Lewis"
Exactly.
I love animation. I love Disney movies and especially Pixar. I also love the old Warner Bros and Hanna-Barbera cartoons. I don't care if somebody wants to watch My Little Pony, but it goes beyond liking it to calling yourself a "brony" and goes into a bizarre cult obsession. I just don't get it. It's a show written for and aimed at pre-teen girls. It's just not my thing, but if others dig it, well...I still think it's stupid, but then again I'm sure people think my passion for music collecting is stupid and childish too.

I wasn't even aware of this 'Brony' fad until this thread. I honestly think that there is something really odd about this whole generation, but let's face facts, we listened to songs about sex with dead people! so a mild MLP fixation is pretty mild by comparison.

The thing is though the creator and writers said that they specifically wrote the show so that parents could watch it with their kids, so no it isn't just aimed at pre-teens, so I really don't see how it's "stupid" at all for adults to like the show, just cause I don't dosen't mean i'm in a position to judge others like that.
I wouldn't necessarily call it a "bizarre cult obsession", that's a term I would use for something like say the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I personally never got the fascination for that film at all, but somehow it stills gets midnight showings to this day, so what do I know?
