I'm happy to hear this for no other reason than the possibility of Tommy Stinson going back to the Replacements and getting a new album done.

But I can tell you this - AXL was NEVER a cool rocker - everyone tried to appease him - mistake -
When James Hetfield got burned at the concert - Axl showed himself -

He ripped off the 4 other original guys - by attaining the GNR logo / name rights - by mean tatics -
" Sign over the rights = or I'm leaving the band and not doing tonight's show "
All sorts of other big time s**** that was uncalled for.
Wish Vince gotten a hold of him - In fact, Vince STILL says " Anytime Axl. Name the place " -
Had a chance to see them , before they hit it big -
it was a N.Y RITZ type show - sold out - no way in - ( jukebox hero lyrics)
Saw all the other GNR shows ( AXL / Buckethead ) many years later - very good concerts !

I saw them at at club gig in Nottingham just as they were hitting big (the tour was booked beforehand obs) They were brilliant! Whatever has happened since then, that's the G & R I'll always remember.

My guess is that a reunion will happen and it's probably been decided that Axl should stop shitting over the name for a couple of years before it does.

Can Stephen still play? He seemed in a bad way the last interview I saw .

I am not into the current GNR. But their existence doesn't bother me in anyway. Axl could put out a record a year for the next 20 years that all sucks and it still doesn't affect me or anything.

GnR has been a running joke for a looooong time. If Axel had any brains whatsoever, he's swallow his stupid pride, put the original band back together, schedule a tour and make a killing. Of course that would necessitate him not being an asswipe and actually showing up at these shows and not delaying them for 3 or 4 hours. Aerosmith did it back in the 80's and made a killing. Kiss did it in the 90's and make a killing.

When I read the article linked in original post, my spider sense was tingling that it wasn't much in the validity department and Axl has commented that break up rumors are untrue.

In hindsight, as much as I'd dig on an "Appetite" line up reunion.....would it actually be that good ?

True, but people said the same thing about Aerosmith and Kiss. The original line-up are old, are drug addicts, etc. Would it be good? I saw the reunion tours of both bands and it was very good.

Even if Axl did "swallow his pride" so to speak, I don't know if that would necessarily do much good, Axl wasn't the only problem with GnR hard as it is to believe, the other band members all had their demons as well and i'm not sure they would want to re-unite(Slash in particular seems very unlikely to ever want to go anywhere near Rose again)

I think so.

Maybe not if they are trying to write new material. But if they were playing their old songs, I'd definitely pay a nice-sized ticket price to see that. Axl's voice isn't exactly what it was, but most singers who are still performing are in similar boats, so no problems there.

And the other dudes can still play, no question there. The one that people would question is Adler, but he still plays. He out out that CD recently, and while I wasn't really into it, that goes along with the writing new material thing. I remember seeing Bang Tango and Adler's Appetite in, I don't know...uh, 2004? Maybe not that early, but I forget now. And Adler seemed happy as hell playing those Appetite songs with Joe Leste on vox. Although he did seem to space and forget where he was near the end of the set, and just got up and left the stage. But not like in an Axl way, but in a "thank you, audience, you've ruled, our set is done!" way. So Bang Tango's drummer came out and did the last few songs.

Edit: I googled. The tour was 2006, Faster P*ssycat, Bang Tango and Adler's Appetite.

I saw them live in march 2013. They were fun but axl has an awful voice now.

I was able to talk to him after the show and he was a very nice guy actually. I left with a great souvenir.

GnR will remain irreplacable.

I know it wasn't just Axl, but he seems to be the biggest, headstrong ass of the bunch, at least that's the way it looks. However, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry were mortal enemies in 1979, 1980, etc. yet they managed to figure it out. As well, there was plenty of nasty mud slinging coming from Peter, Ace, Gene and Paul and they managed to figure it out for a reunion as well. It's not impossible, even if it is improbable.
