| I recently finished Born Standing Up by Steve Martin. He recounts his years as a stand-up comedian and not too fondly, I might add. It was ok, and a pretty quick and easy read though. | |

| Umm people who have strong opinions about women's rights should not read this, this is the most debauched, decadent, revolting, hilarious book i've ever read. You put Motley Crue's the Dirt next to this and watch it wimper back home with its tail between its legs to those pretenders that wrote it. This is of course Zodiac Mindwarp and his unspeakable confessions about life in on tour with the Love Reaction in the late 80's and early 90's. Rock N' Roll bands don't duct tape 13 year old girls to floors and parade around Germany in SS regalia anymore! | |

| Finished Steven King's Cell. That was an awesome story and I couldn't put the book down. The interesting thing is, I remember King's books always starting off slow before anything exciting happens but with Cell it starts within the first 20 paragraphs. I'm starting a book called The Stingray Shuffle by Tim Dorsey. This book is hilarious, it not a little confusing. I'm sure things will tie up, but the story is just all over the place now, but it's funny enough to hold my interest (when reading it I can imagine a movie playing out-a black comedy). | |

| I'm a huge reference buff and I just finished When Do Fish Sleep?, one of those books on "Imponderables". It was good, I soaked up a lot of the information like a sponge. | |

| Finished The Sting Ray Shuffle two weeks ago, one of the funniest damn books I've ever read. If you are a reader and like movies with humor similar to Snatch, Get Shorty, The Whole Nine Yards, etc. then you would like these off the wall comedy/mysteries. Author Tim Dorsey has been described as "Carl Hiaasen on meth, Elmore Leonard on acid, and Dave Berry on Drano." The star is a know it all historian/psycopath named Surge A. Storms who likes to kill people he thinks deserves it (and they do) and comes up with inventive ways to do it. Being a guy who puts actors to characters when I read, I piked Vince Vaughn for Surge and he fit the character like a glove (if they ever put a Dorsey book into a movie they HAVE to cast him-I couldn't see anyone else pulling it off).
Just finished Monster by Frank Peretti. Peretti writes a good thriller, something you wouldn't expect from a Chritian, and I will read more of his stuff in the future. While I can read a Steven King, John Saul, or Dean Koontz book; I find it refreshing to read a book by someone who shares my beliefs. Also he doesn't have to resort to foul language, ultra gory stuff (although he does go into more detail than you would expect a Christian writer to do with death) or sex to write a riviting read.
I will be starting Florida Roadkill by Tim Dorsey tomarrow, the first book to feature Surge A. Storms.

It's a really good, quick read. But it's about his career, and after the first half of the book—where he talks about how he became a writer—it's basically geared toward writers. I've read it, but I'm using it as reference right now. |

| Reading? What's that? Seriously, the last book I read was the second autobiography by Mick Foley. Between the magazines to which I subscribe (Men's Health, Sports Illustrated, Cat Fancy) and the various and sundry humane organization periodicals (which literally number in the dozens), I don't have time for "books". _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Great alternative history. I've lived in Georgia for 21 years, and the history of the Civil War permeates pretty much everything in this region, so it's neat to read a story about what would happen if the Confederacy managed to survive. Better yet, the historical speculations behind it is actually pretty accurate. | |

| I finished Florida Roadkill and while it wasn't as funny as Stingray Shuffle, it did have it's moments. In this Serge (I misspelled his name last time as Surge) is not quite the character he was in the last book, but again it was the first Dorsey book and some characters take time to develope. I am now reading the second book, Hammerhead Ranch Motel which so far is a little more funny than the last one but it remains to be seen how the character Serge develops. Though I am reading that I am also going through this book: This will help me to improve my singing until I can afford a vocal coach. I've had this for many years but for some reason I only read a few interviews in it but now I am serious about developing my voice so hopefully this will help. | |

I've heard that he was born on a mountaintop in Tennessee. Was he truely raised in the woods till he knew every tree and killed him a bear when he was only 3?
