I doubt anybody's really surprised cuz they've been dragging their feet on starting a follow up to Infestation for a while, and after reading Pearcy's book, it's pretty clear that he and Blotzer hate each other's guts.
RATT frontman Stephen Pearcy has released the following statement:
"After 30 years creating the band RATT and losing a real brother, Robbin [Crosby, late RATT guitarist], it's time that I personally part ways with the band.
"I am officially done with having anything to do with them due to the constant turmoil, unresolved business, personal attacks/threats in the public forum, and most of all, the disrespect to the fans.
"I'm very content and proud of the legacy and the music I’ve created. This music will live well beyond any of our lifetimes.
"I owe no one anything but a huge heartfelt thank you for coming to the party for the last 30 years.
"With much respect, life goes on and the music I created will continue to be heard for years to come despite the dark clouds that have lingered for far too long.
"I will personally continue to make music and perform live shows."
"See you out there."
RATT recently canceled its appearance on the Monsters Of Rock cruise due to the death of Stephen Pearcy's sister.
RATT drummer Bobby Blotzer was slated to sit out the band's appearance at the Monsters Of Rock cruise because he had not yet fully recovered from the neck surgery he underwent last October. Filling in for him once again was supposed to be Jimmy DeGrasso, who has previously played with Y&T, WHITE LION and MEGADETH, among others.
Blotzer previously missed three RATT shows in January. All three dates were played with DeGrasso behind the kit.
RATT's first studio record in 11 years, "Infestation", sold around 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 30 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was issued on April 20, 2010 via Loud & Proud.

I didn't even know Ratt were still active. Oh well, I liked their last album but when I am in the mood for Ratt I seem to always go for the EP or Out of the Cellar.

Yeah what IS it with QR too? They can't keep a singer now for more than 2 weeks. Time to hang it up. I did enjoy the last QR singer that performed with them at M3. But without Kevin and Carlos it just isn't the same anymore. And it's too bad no more Ratt I really enjoyed Infestation.
Quiet Riot should have been buried when Kevin DuBrow was.
Ratt should also call it a day if Stephen Pearcy is now out of the band. Unlike Quiet Riot, who no one in the world is interested in hearing any new music from them, Ratt had a contract with Roadrunner their last album was fairly successful, so this seems silly and someone needs to get Stephen Pearcy some career counseling quickly

I agree with all of this. No Pearcy, no Ratt. Too bad.
It's a shame they couldn't work things out. It hardly seems like Ratt with someone else on vocals; and Stephen's solo material is always mediocre at best.
I agree. The only Ratt album I didn't like was Collage, but that was just leftover material anyway.

Silliness, but not unexpected. Oh well. I only hope Ratt calls it a day then but I doubt they will. I'm sure they can kiss their Loud and Proud deal goodbye though.
I hope Pearcy will strike out on his own and make new music that is Ratt-like as opposed to the alternative/industrial stuff he's done solo.

Ratt, Quiet Riot, Great White, Poison, Black N`Blue, Icon, King Kobra and so on... Great memories from the 80s but very few bands in that genre have gotten a new audience. Traditional metal and thrash is still cool among younger metal fans but hair metal is almost dead it seems...

So he quit again? I wonder how long it will be before he and blotz have a bro-down, kiss and make and release a new album.

Oh yea, forgot about that. I guess he's busy with QR, touring the globe, filling stadiums every night, living the dream.
In a semi-related note, Jack Russell's Great White recently performed in a giant sports arena for the first time in years. Unfortunately, it was for about 20 people, 10 of which were maintenance workers cleaning up after the football game.
Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

The story as I read was that the band was hired to play after an arena football game up in Trenton NJ a about 2 weeks ago. The theme was "80's Throwback Night". People we supposed to show up dressed in their best 80's gear. Well, apparently no one got the memo, because no one stuck around after the football game to watch Jack & the boys. It was reported they played in front of 40 people (and that was being generous). If you skip to around the 8:00 minute mark of the video, the camera pans around to the "crowd". It's embarrassing.
The Philadelphia Soul did the same thing last season with Quiet Riot with only slightly better results.
On a more positive note, Jack sounded pretty good.

Pretty dissapointed in this news, I thought Infestation was one of the better comeback albums out there and I was looking forward to another.

It barely qualifies as a "crowd". Small gathering? Curious passer-bys?

Infestation was ok. That record was more in-the-moment for me. Like I bought it and played the hell out of it for a week. Now if a track from it pops up on shuffle, I usually skip. It really wasn't as good as we thought it was for a week in 2010 or whatever year.

Eh? There's plenty of new hair bands out there...

So you might just get another Pearcy-lead Ratt disc after all. Contractually-speaking, of course.
Quote :
Pearcy announced his exit from RATT on Thursday (April 24), saying that he was "officially done with having anything to do with them due to the constant turmoil, unresolved business, personal attacks/threats in the public forum, and most of all, the disrespect to the fans."
Despite the fact that he is no longer a member of RATT, Pearcy said he is willing to release another studio album with RATT to fulfill a contractual obligation to the band's label, Loud & Proud Records. "That's not saying there won't be another RATT record," he told Lafon (hear audio below). "It just won't be under the circumstance of a band going into the studio and this-and-that. I just won't be playing in that band anymore, and pretty much put that to rest." He added that he is "still committed to this record... Warren [DeMartini, guitar] and I actually wrote a great song months ago at MT Studios, my bass player's studio. If that's the last thing that gets out and the only thing, it's a good thing. But you know, I said I'd do it. But I never want to be involved with my band again. That's just the bottom line."

Someone should beat everyone in this bands ass and get them to shut the f*** up and make the damn record and retire this band already! Doesn't this jackass realize he is part of the problem?
Quiet Riot and both versions of Great White should also cease to exist. All these bands have turned themselves into a mockery!

So, Pearcy went on a drug spree and after he came through the drug haze had to kiss and make up..... part one, I will do a new album. Part tow, I will tour with Ratt for one "final" goodbye.
