| I believe that the Devil has connections to Starbucks, but he would never be so obvious. Ol' Scratch is more clever than that.
That woman should be more concerned about the amounts of loogies and taint sweat that are gonna be in her orders for now on. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. I could see how the woman might be offended if she was indeed handed these coffees, this happening in the Bible-belt and all that. But it's just some kid behind the counter being a smart-ass, not corporate protocol. Complain to the manager and let it go. Years ago, while working in a supermarket, I was mindlessly doodling on a flyer advertising Passover specials. Not drawing swastikas or anything, just, you know doodling. I was bored. A Jewish woman complained to the manager that I was defacing it on purpose and somehow making anti-Semitic comments. He apologized, I was called into his office, halfheartedly reprimanded, told to get back to work and that was the end of it. Today, it would be a national headline, "National Chain Of Supermarkets Perpetrate Hate Crimes" _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | If you are scared by a pentagram drawn onto your coffee in caramel then you have life issues so severe nothing can help you. |

| That's hilarious. I agree with FF. Sounds like a hoax. I'm actually surprised that the article didn't appear on April 1st | |

| Satan has denied all claims that he is associated with Starbucks, his current role as CEO of Walmart keeps him too busy. |

| Former Starbucks Barista here. She has a valid complaint and articulated it nicely:
"“I am in no way judging his beliefs or dis-meriting [sic] his beautiful artwork, I am however judging his lack of professionalism and respect for others. I am a teacher in the public school system and if I were to present a child of atheist or pagan believers with a Christian art project I could be sued in a heartbeat. I am of Catholic faith and would love to share in my beliefs daily. Fortunately I have enough common sense to present myself with professionalism and follow an ethics code. Perhaps that could be suggested to that particular location."
If a Barista did indeed do this, he would receive warning. It has nothing to do with religious ethics, but customer service in general. His aim was to offend. Not cool for a Barista. That said, like MG said, the woman should have gone to the GM rather than plastering, but then again what harm is done by doing so?
Looks like either caramel sauce or honey. Also, the way the article is written seems to imply that it's some kind of satire. Or it's just weirdly worded.

| Or it's all bullshit, she went to Starbucks, bought two coffees, grabbed the caramel bottle when nobody was looking, put the designs on them and then used the internet for her 15 minutes of fame. |

Yeah I thought of that possibility too. Her statement doesn't read like an attention grabber, but maybe she's taking a mellow approach. The caramel sauce is out of reach for customers, although a lazy Barista could have left their bottle at the hand-off. Regardless, I'd tip my Barista if they did some metal art like this.

I'm starting to think the same thing. The whole thing is starting to read more like an April Fools hoax. Look up the name "Tom Kuhn". For someone with the title of "Starbucks social media team spokesman", shouldn't they show up on a quick Google search and NOT be a yo-yo champion? https://www.google.com/webhp?tab=ww&ei=sJ49U7f9E9XAsQSM6YDYBQ&ved=0CBQQ1S4#q=tom+kuhn _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. That's exactly what I'm thinking. People do strange things to get their name out there.

THANK you! I have friends who are head over heels about Starbucks and I can't stand it. I've had coffee from gas stations and fast food restaurants that taste better to me than Starbucks. We have a local coffee shop in the town where I live that kicks Starbucks' ass from here to next week. And cheaper too!

We have a local coffee shop in the town where I live that kicks Starbucks' ass from here to next week. And cheaper too! It's a business model based on high volume. Instead of purchasing Arabica beans, Starbucks sticks with MOSTLY Robusta beans for their brew--which have to be roasted to practically char to produce any satisfactory flavor. This is mostly with their bold line, however, like Sumatra and Pike's Place, which is what they usually put on the brewing line. Robusta beans are much cheaper than Arabica. Because of the high overhead and wages that the company pays out, this is one of the corners they cut. Their's also something about Italian tradition that they usually spoke about an the area-wide meeting, but I have yet to find any verifiable research regarding that. It's not BAD coffee per se--that would be Columbian--but it's certainly not premium. Keep in mind that coffee imports and tariffs have spike in the past decade, and Starbucks has maintained their stock just above the red. Thus the mass closure of stores across the globe. IMO Peet's has the best coffee, which is why they've refused to a) grow beyond their region and b) let Starbucks buy them, even after the many, many inviting proposals that have been made.

I was a lover for the longest time but just got burned out. I still drink a cup everyday--black, of course--but it's more out of habit than enjoyment. Like cigarettes, I suppose.

| I don't mind a straight up coffee, but I'm more of a cappuccino or latte kind of guy. Even though I will go to Starbucks on occasion, I will steal a line from Ron Burgundy; "That stuff is pure gasoline". It's by far the strongest coffee I've had. In my experience it goes in this order:
Gloria Jeans (if you can find one) > Dunkin Donuts > McDonalds > Starbucks...
