Since finally giving up the name and letting only ONE L.A. Guns hit the circut, Tracii has been putting together a new band/album as Tracii Guns League of Gentlemen. Here's their first video for 'The Sound'...
The album, The First Record, comes out June 21st.
Not sure how I feel about that tune. Kinda dull. Coming from Tracii, I expected something with the guitar more up-front or something. Something a little more rocking would have made for a better debut single I think. Unless the whole album sounds like this.
Tracii is starting to look old too. What is that guy, like 60 or something? Seems like he's been around forever. The drummer needs to keep a shirt on too. His chest looks like it's slowly melting down off his body.
EDIT: Tracii is only 47. Yikes.

It's not bad, but it does have a blandness about it before things pick up at the solo. Terrible showcase tune, especially if this is the lead-off single. I've been pretty excited about this; hoping that the rest of the album is balls-out rock.

Just say no kids!
I think that it was a shame that they couldn't make it happen with Dilana, she does have a hell of a voice. But she also seemed like an unhinged nutcase on RS Supernova.
This is too bland for my taste.

He stole the name from Robert Fripp who had two different collectives called "The League of Gentlemen" and "The League of Crafty Guitarists".

Unhinged nutcase? More like she came to her senses as she colleted her $25 bucks and climbed into the van. "What the f*ck am I doing fronting a C-list past-their-prime 80's hairband in front of 20 people at some sh*t-hole bar?"

Would that be L.A Guns or Supernova?
Did you watch RS Supernova? I was rooting all the way for her, but she developed an ego the size of a house and then went completely mad
I'd still like to see her front a good band though.

Nah, I never saw it. I don't know anything about her, other than she was singing for Tracii's version for one hot minute.
I'm a big LA Guns fan, but when they split into 2 factions, I sided with the Phil Lewis version. The various incarnations that Tracii went through over the years pretty much blew goats.

They look like a League of Sleazy Geezers. Tracii hasn't aged well. And that drummer... put a freakin' shirt on grandpa!

Anyone bothered with this one yet?
The reviews on Amazon make it sound more interesting than that weak lead-off track would have you believe.

Yeah Tracii Guns is not on the list of artists I follow to the ends of the earth.
Of course he has been involved in some landmark sleaze records. But about the time the first Brides of Destruction album hit, I knew I even less than cared what he was currently doing.

Tracii's releasing a 2nd album that noone cares about...
Quote :
TRACII GUNS' LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN, the band led by former L.A. GUNS guitarist Tracii Guns, will release its sophomore album, "The Second Record", on August 19 via Shrapnel Records. The follow-up to last year's "The First Record" "reveals more of [the group's] strong psychedelic rock influences and features inspired covers of tunes originally recorded by acts like THE SONICS, THE ROLLING STONES, Neil Young, Big Star, THE FROST and others," according to a press release.
On "The Second Record", TRACII GUNS' LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN reveals its '60s psychedelic roots in this incredible collection of songs, faithfully reproduced with vintage sounds and stellar instrumental and vocal performances.
"The Second Record" track listing:
01. Anywhere We Want To Go 02. Cinnamon Girl 03. Sunshine 04. Days 05. Gimme Some Truth 06. You Get What You Deserve 07. Citadel 08. For What It's Worth 09. Ride Captain Ride 10. Hey Bulldog 11. Stryrchnine 12. White Rabbit
2nd release in and they're already doing an all-covers album? Weak.

Ok, unrelated to the original post, but I have to ask: what's with the modern obsession with "Hey Bulldog" by metal bands? I mean, cool song and all, but it seems like everyone's rushing to retcon and turn John Lennon into the metal version of what Iggy Pop was for punk.

I don't care about the record, but I do like the selection of bands/songs that are being covered.

Lame. The debut is a decent album. The production is weak, but it's not a bad album. Shame they're not going to do original tunes on the next, because I rarely find covers albums to be "inspired."

I enjoyed seeing his version of L.A. Guns back in 2010 with Jizzy on vocals, as it was cool to experience the Shrinking Violet era of the band again. After that he really went off the deep end hiring Dilana Robichaux as vocalist for his lineup. The first League of Gentlemen album was not mind blowing but not as bad as I expected either. If they were releasing new material I might check it out, but a covers album of--of 60s material at that--sounds like it will be pointless.

I wanted to pick up that debut album, but the stuff I heard from it was kinda boring. Seemed like a very mellow release.

Yeah, it's pretty low-key for the most part.

I expected it to be more rocking guitar. I dunno. I'll probably get them both eventually, but I'm in no rush.
