| My Mother was a Zeppelin fan so I remember hearing them around the house my entire life. I went through a long period where I was so burnt out on their music that I didn't listen to them for about 15 years...but then that 2 DVD set came out with all the classic live footage and that re-ignited my passion. I then went back on a Zeppelin kick and bought the complete studio recordings box set.
I like all the albums to varying degrees, but the following are my absolute favorites.
Led Zeppelin I - This album always makes me think of my Dad, this was his favorite album, he passed away a few years ago and I listened to this one ALOT during that time, helped with the mourning process.
Led Zeppelin III - Love this album for all the acoustic and folk elements, proof that you can play acoustic and still be "heavy".
Physical Graffiti - The "least played" by radio and probably one of the reasons it still sounds so fresh.
Houses Of The Holy - The Ocean and The Rain Song...'nuff said.
Presence - Tea For One is my all-time favorite Jimmy Page performance. |

| Led Zeppelin excellent band but where I live they are over played on the radio, my favorite Led Zeppelin is " Physcial Graffiti" simply because it covers so much musical ground. I do not believe Zeppelin ever put out a bad album, I even like the " Coda". As far as live albums IMO " How the West was Won" is definitley better than " The Song Remains the Same' but I recently upgraded my "TSRS" with remastered and expanded version and I have to say it is a vast improvement. My least favorite Zep album is IV but that is due more from over hearing the songs than the actual quality of the material. | |

This has been common knowledge for a long time now, I don't know why these guys think they're breaking ground or bringing some conspiracy into the light. It was also common practice for bands to cover other songs; in this case the label prevented them from crediting the original songwriters. Why are they blaming Zeppelin? This kind of pisses me off. One of the callers said they can't stand to listen to them anymore. Just because they took original songs and put their own stylish, groundbreaking touch on it? Bullshit.

| The last time I mentioned this to Jimmy Page in his castle made from bricks of coke, he cried so hard, he rolled right off the mountain of money he was laying on and woke up the gaggle of super models surrounding him.
It's very upsetting to him and I'd appreciate it that you don't bring up this subject again. Thank you and good day, sir! _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I need a translator for iamrockerfun...
Sure, Zeppelin did their fare share of appropriating riffs/lyrical passages from blues and folk songs...but so did all the blues and folk artists who were constantly copying from on another. Most jazz songs are built off the chord progressions of other songs as well, there must be thousands of jazz standards that use the basic "rhythm changes" (I Got Rhythm by George Gershwin).
It is just the way things were done.
Zeppelin also wrote MANY brilliant original songs, their legacy and influence are undeniable and cannot be tarnished. |

Don't worry if you don't know or care who Tommy James is. Just focus on the parts where musicians, song writers, managers, record labels and just about everyone involved in the music business did whatever the hell they wanted to, and didn't give one liquidy sh*t about who they offended or stole from. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | That crap gets overstated and overblown about Led Zeppelin. Bob Dylan, who no one disputes can write an excellent tune, admits that some of his early tunes where based on old folk and traditional songs.
I remember when Led Zeppelin where forced to add Willie Dixon name to the writing credits of 'Whole Lotta Love', 20 some years after its original release. Compare the two songs, sound nothing alike, besides the fact that Robert Plant could not be bothered to write original lyrics.

| I'm glad everyone here sees it this way. Stern isn't even the guy I have beef with; it's the guest who claims to be an "expert on classic rock." That's douchier than f*cking Geoff Tate right there. And the way they complain about it make Zep sound criminal. Not a fair representation at all. | |

| Zombie thread! Back from the dead! Urrrrgh... braiiiiins....
So I've been on a Led Zeppelin kick for the past week or two, sparked by my picking up "In Through the Out Door" on CD at Goodwill.
I've never been much more than a casual Zep fan at best - I owned "IV" on cassette back in the day (it was almost a requirement when I was in college) but that was all. I didn't even have any of their stuff on CD till about three years ago when I snagged the first three and Houses of the Holy at a yard sale. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say I ever dis-liked Zep, I just never took the time to dig into'em beyond the radio hits. (You know what they say... if you are ever in the mood to hear Led Zeppelin, just turn on a classic-rock radio station and wait a few minutes. Haha)
Anyway, I was lukewarm on much of In Through... at first (which I'm told is not a fan favorite anyway) but it did inspire me to pull out the rest of my Zep discs and I've been listening to 'em all on a constant loop during my morning & evening commutes this week. Therefore I've probably listened to more Zeppelin in the past two week than I have in the past 20 years. The light bulb finally went "on." Better late than never, huh?
Of course, this means I'm gonna have to start digging for the rest of the studio albums I'm missing and fill in the gaps of my LZ collection. (sigh) It's a sickness.
Just thought I'd share. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I like "In Through The Out Door" quite a bit. I didn't have much either. "Mothership" CD which is a best of CD double disc. And the live "Celebration Day" from a few years ago. When they reissued them on vinyl I went and bought most of them and have enjoyed them. ITTOD is cool because it comes in the paper bag. The album cover is fun to look at and I think there were 6 different album covers for that album each from the POV of each person in the bar. Here's info on that album and the album art, it's pretty cool: https://rarerecordcollector.net/2012/08/16/led-zeppelin-in-through-the-out-door-all-6-sleeve-variations/ I really enjoy that album, not bad at all. Really don't have a favorite, just depends on what kind of mood i am in. IV is a bit overplayed so I don't listen to it as much as the rest. Presence is a bit weak but has some standout tracks. I have the double LP with a bonus album of outtakes but those are something I only listened to once. It's fun looking at the pictures on their albums that have a lot of detail. I read where "The Object" (the statue in all the pictures) sold for $500 on ebay. | |

It's been growing on me slowly with repeated spins. I especially like the opening track "In the Evening" and of course "All My Love." That long-ass "Carouselambra" song is a slog though. I was reading up on the cool/elaborate packaging of the original LP on Wikipedia... the paper bag outer sleeve and six different covers, an inner sleeve that turned colors if you put water on it, etc. -- that must've cost them a frickin fortune to produce. Imagine if a band tried to do something like that now. The label would be like "Are you outta your MIND?" _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Imagine if a band tried to do something like that now. The label would be like "Are you outta your MIND?" My reissue from a year or so ago has the paper bag and the inner sleeve that changes colors. I haven't put water on it, but it works. I didn't wanna mess it up. I am not sure if they made 6 covers for the reissue or not. I actually had 2 copies of the reissue but one I did not open. Strange story about that. I ordered it on ebay sealed. I got a deal where if I ordered 3 LP's I got them for 30% off. The prices were very low. So I ordered Zeppelin and 2 queen albums for $6.88 each! On brand new vinyl! That's cheaper than new CD's! Well, after I placed my order they emailed and said they cancelled Zeppelin because they were out of it but would still send the Queen albums at the discounted price. They refunded the 6.88 for my Zep album. So I waited a day or two and ordered "Out Door" again. My package came in the mail and it was Zep and 2 Queens. I thought "Cool, they shipped them together". I didn't have time to mess with them so I didn't open any of them. The next day my wife said "Why did you order 2 Zeppelin albums?". ANOTHER one showed up the next day, I guess from my second order! So I got 2 of them for the price of one ($6.88). I looked them over and noticed one had a split seam at the top (and it was still sealed). I took pictures of that one and listed it on eBay and sold it for $16. So I made 10 bucks off the whole deal lol!

| I think it's a good, representative compilation that goes a little deeper than just the "hits". My only complaint about it is that "Heartbreaker" is a standalone cut. Everyone knows that song HAS to lead into "Livin' Lovin' Maid". _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
