I never liked this lot before, but given the singer's recent conviction, I'm not sure that I could listen to them without feeling violently ill!!

Started burnin' up my Best Buy gift cards:
Megadeth - Super Collider (Best Buy exclusive version w/bonus tracks)
Black Sabbath - Seventh Star (random pickup out of the five dollar bin. They didn't have any f**king copies of Sabbath's "13," but they had a sh*t load of this one. Go figure.)

Kinda weird, but Seventh Star rules so it's okay.

I think it's a symptom of Best Buy's ever-shrinking music selection... once a "new" title drops off the charts or they sell out of it, they don't bother to restock it.
Anyway, I haven't heard Seventh Star in dog years. I remember buying it on cassette back in high school and for whatever reason I never got into it much. Back then I didn't know dick about Sabbath anyway, haha. So it'll be interesting to hear it again after all this time.

It's not a Black Sabbath album, it's a Tony Iommi solo album that the record label refused to release unless they stuck the name Black Sabbath on it. If you approach it as a solo album it's a great listen and there are some fantastic songs on there.

When I first heard the album, I was unaware of the history, and still had no issues with it at all. I think it's a really good record, whether it's called Sabbath or Iommi.

Yeah, I've become familiar with the album's back story over the years. But back in '86, '87, whenever I first heard it I had no clue what I was listening to... all I knew about Sabbath was the Born Again album and whatever random Ozzy era songs got radio play (i.e. "Paranoid," "War Pigs")... so when I listened to Seventh Star, all I knew was that it sounded nothing like Sabbath... or at least, what I thought Sabbath should sound like. Haha.

The singer is trash, but he didn't write the music. And they were a good band. It's a shame the rest of the band members will have to deal with this sort of backlash for the rest of their lives, even if they start a new band.

Just my two cents, they actually had some decent commercial music on the album with Last Train Home (a guilty pleasure of mine), but what Ian did is unforgivable. As a father it shook me up real bad to hear about it. I say off with his f*cking head.

Haven't heard it all the way thru yet but what I did hear so far (in my truck on the ride home) sounds pretty damn sweet (pun intended)....

Actually, he wrote or co-wrote their lyrics.
I didn't like their music, but I do feel really bad for the rest of the band members.
One of their songs, "A Town Called Hypocrisy", has a music video which is very creepy in light of what we know now.
