They are great as always! Their set the other night had a few more slower numbers than normal but they still were great.

Origin and Beyond Creation (with King Parrot and a couple other bands) in Sept and

Thanks for the post about the Opeth tour, S.D. I'll definitely be at the opening night of the tour in Chicago on 12/3!! The new album is awesome. It'll be interesting to see how much growling material they play though. With In Flames opening I would think they would at least play a few heavier songs.

I'm sure they will play some of the older material, if you look at their recent festival set lists it has been about 50/50. I'm really excited to hear the Pale Communion material live, it's a looser album with some tasty jam sections that they could stretch out and improvise over.

Just found out about a special weekend of Stryper in a suburb near Chicago 10/17 and 10/18. The Friday show will be all acoustic, and then Saturday they will do an electric set. I'm really looking forward to this, as I have to think they will pull out some deep cuts on either night.

Probably Exmortus on Aug. 30th.

Hoping Delain with Sonata Arctica end of September in San Francisco

Saw DRI last night; the band really gave it their all in a near two-hour set but it really sucked. The soundman was a moron, the vocals were bassy and buried, and they didn't mic the drums. Also the new guitarist (I was expecting Spike to play wtf??) had a terrible solid-state setup with load of compression and no midrange at all on his tone. It sounded like a bunch of Line 6 boom-boom grah shit. Sad. But Kurt was a hoot to watch!

I see Mortality Work live on Friday!

Deliverance and Join the Dead doing an acoustic show here in town next week. Not sure what the lineup is, but I'll be happy to meet Jimmy.

I caught Exmortus last Saturday night. Great show despite a very low turnout.

Got my tickets to see arch enemy through the post yesterday. 18th december in London, 4 days after my birthday so a few drinks will be had. Really can't wait for this, absolutely love war eternal.

Just found out accept are playing the same venue in london in November. Will definitely he picking a ticket up today. Must admit I'm getting pretty fed up of gigs always seeming to fall midweek. Such a ball ache to get any of my mates to make a trip into london for anything other than a Friday or Saturday gig, unless it's a major band we all collectively love. Not so bad for me as I work in the city. Looks like I'll be flying solo for this but I just have to see accept.

Having just ranted about gigs always seeming to be on midweek dates I just remembered that Opeth are playing London in october on a saturday lol. One of my mates text yesterday and said he'll sort tickets out for this.
