| Not sure if there are any other X-Files nerds here besides me, but I was pleased to hear that David "Mulder" Duchovny and Gillian "Scully" Anderson made an appearance at this year's Comic-Con and hinted that we may not have seen the last of their X-Files characters. The unspoken attraction between Mulder and Scully formed the backbone of The X-Files.
And David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson proved they still have that chemistry as they met up again to celebrate their iconic show's 20 year anniversary at Comic Con in San Diego, California on Thursday.
The pair reunited to meet fans at a special panel at the show, and soon delighted the crowd when they hinted that we might not have seen the last of their much-loved characters.
Questioned about the possibility of following in the footsteps of 24 with a limited return to the small screen, Anderson said simply that she would not be interested.
But to a roar of audience approval, she then added that 'a film would be great.'
David, 52, and Gillian, 44, broke ground two decades ago in the television series The X-Files and it's two film sequels The X-Files and The X-Files: I Want To Believe.
The hunky David portrayed FBI Special Agent Mulder while Gillian played his disbelieving sidekick Special Agent Scully.
And the status of the pair's relationship has always kept fans guessing, with many hoping they would develop a romance.
Asked by an audience member during the Comic-Con panel would Mulder and Scully would do if they went on a date, Gillian was quick to reply: 'Have sex!'
A slightly more reserved David added: 'And maybe dinner?'
Meanwhile, The X-Files creator Chris Carter added during the panel discussion that the show has only recently become relevant again.
He explained: 'The suspicion and conspiracy theories are so much more rampant today. You could do the show now.
'You couldn’t really do the show in 2002 because people trusted the government — or wanted to. We went through a period there where The X-Files was not relevant.'
Following the panel discussion, Gillian took to the stage to auction off a signed cardboard cutout of herself and David as Mulder and Scully. David joked: "This is how we're going to get the movie made, by the way!" _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I loved the show and Fight the Future but X-Files: I want to believe was terrible. I am not sure i would want them to do anything more. _________________ | |

They didn't have much to work with for that film. The budget was less than 1/4 of the first X-Files movie and in addition it had been off the air for so long that it didn't make sense to tie it into any of the show mythology...so they were left coming up with a "monster of the week" scenario and unfortunately what they came up with was pretty damn tired. I would still like to see the characters again. I'm a big fan of Duchovny on Californication and I'm sure him and Anderson could reignite the chemistry they once shared. |

That's why they NEED to do a 3rd movie... It would suck for "I Want To Believe" to be the epitaph for those characters! They deserve better! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| The red hair was a better look for her, still has that "thing" going on for her age. Great show, don't think I ever saw either movie though ? _________________ | |

| I think Gillian is still hot but she needs her bangs back. I enjoyed Fight the Future but both films were just incredibly meh and convoluted. Would it be too much to ask for something truly epic and final, to let the franchise go out with a bang? I would say an apocalyptic theme would work very well. That was an awesome show that deserves cinematic splendor and some closure. | |

Tell you what. If they were able to get Sex and the City to the screen TWICE, and fund a Veronica Mars movie funded via kickstarter (?!?!?!), surely we could have an epic Fringe film. That would be kickass.

| Very cool! Hopefully they do another X-Files flick. I thought the first one was good, the second one, no so much. Always liked the show.... they latter season (with the Liquid Metal Terminator) wasn't that great......
I watched a few episodes of the first and second season again and forgot how much I liked the show.
Even named the cat (that died this year) Scully

| Bring on another X-Files flick. I actually like both flicks so I have no problem with a third. I also didn't mind the last season (or 2?) with Robert Patrick and the hot chick with the black hair. | |

I must've jumped the gun, then, with my opinion (a bad habit of mine). The premise looks...underwhelming, I suppose, so I thought it was just a basic run-of-the-mill mystery. But you have good taste, so I'll take your word for it. Might check it out someday. Also I knew Rob Thomas was behind the 90210 reboot sooooo...yeah.

Also I knew Rob Thomas was behind the 90210 reboot sooooo...yeah. Veronica Mars is a really odd concoction but it is quite endearing. The dialogue and character development are handled in a similar style to Buffy, Joss Whedon was a fan of the show and appeared in a cameo during season 2. The first season is especially effective because of the well-conceived central mystery that unfolds over 22 episodes. This was another show that was killed off when UPN & WB combined to become the CW. |

| Love X-Files. A third movie would be amazing but the more time that passes, the less hope I have for it to happen. Still, if it ever does I'll be first in line!
And yeah, Gillian Anderson still looks as good as ever!

Duchovney looks like he has aged poorly though... I wouldn't say so, I've been watching him on Californication and he still basically looks like himself though his hair is thinner. |

| Net buzz this week seems to indicate that FOX is at least considering the possibility of a comeback for The X-Files ...

It will come down to whether they can sign the stars for a reasonable amount or not. Also, whether Fox is willing to pony up the funds to actually shoot in Los Angeles instead of going to much-cheaper Canada. Duchovney isn't going to be willing to live in Canada for 9 months out of the year, so to get him they will need to shoot locally. He was the reason production of the original series moved from Vancouver to Los Angeles for season 4, he refused to re-sign a contract if they had to shoot anywhere else. |

I've also heard that they were considering doing it as a "limited run" series ala the "24" comeback from a year or so ago, which might sweeten the deal for the cast members, i.e. they won't be locked into a lengthy series commitment. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
