Some cheap Hastings pickings. For two bucks I couldn't resist the bonus tracks on Vitalogy. And I've always wanted Iggy's remaster of Raw Power. " />
And a whole heaping of stuff from the top of the wants list - thanks to some amazon sellers. " />

Yep, I'm enjoying it while it lasts cuz the well could run dry at any time.
I was particularly intrigued to find that Powermad Festival comp CD - I'm assuming that those were handed out to attendees of the Fest. That was a mighty weird, obscure thing to find at a rinky dink little hole in the wall thrift store!!

Rainbow - Long Live Rock N Roll
I was listening to the second disc (rough mixes/rehearsal/radio stuff) of the deluxe edition of this Saturday and was thinking "I hope whoever buys this really likes Long Live... and LA Connection" because they're going to hear them a bunch. Luckily I'm one of those people. Still a great album.
I love the random comps that just appear at thrift stores.

This was an extraordinarily good "haul" for me from this particular thrift store, cuz it's certainly not the kind of place that you'd expect to find MeTaL treasures, haha. It's not a Goodwill or Salvation Army, it's just an independent shop connected with a local women's charity. The store is in a former church that's falling apart and smells like feet half the time.
I was especially pleased to find Long Live Rock N Roll because even though I'm well versed in Ronnie's Sabbath era and his solo material, I've never had time to dig into his Rainbow stuff. The only Rainbow I owned prior to this was a "best of" that covered their whole career, and Straight Between the Eyes, which has Joe Lynn Turner on vox.
...and like I said, that Powermad comp was just such a freakin utterly bizarre, random thing to trip over in this store that I simply couldn't leave it there, even though I don't normally "do" compilation albums... hahaha

Women's charity thrifts are the best. Growing up my mom used to go to one in a church basement but always claimed men weren't allowed or something. She would come back with the coolest stuff from there. As soon as I was old enough to go on my own I decided to break that line and see what was actually up in there. Sure the older ladies looked at me like I was about to commit multiple high crimes but once I proved to be a "polite young man" they were pretty cool with me. I never miss an opportunity to hit a thrift store and always consider it a challenge to win over any of the older church ladies manning those places. Sadly these days I think they're just glad someone under 50 is willing to talk to them. Kinda sad.
I don't do comps either but there have been a few that seemed too good to pass.

How do you guys "not do comps"? Like, in general? I can understand when it's an assortment of fourth-rate bands you could care less about or a comp with one good band or, like, a comp of previously released material.
But there are so many good comps out there, solid all the way through, with otherwise unavailalbe (or at least rare) songs...I love comps!

Yeah, my brother-in-law won't set foot in that thrift store cuz it's run by (as he calls 'em) "man hating dykes," haha

Some comps are cool and I do own my share of 'em, but I don't go out of my way for'em either. Occasionally when a particularly cool one crosses my path (like this Powermad set) I'll snag it.

Have you gotten John Hiatt's "Slow Turning" yet King? That's my second favorite of his after Perfectly Good Guitar
