I hear you. About 92-93 I stumbled across CMT and damn if some of those women weren't impossible lures for a young guy (along with the catchy tunes). Also became a George Strait fan through all that CMT bird-dogging. Though in his case just for his tunes. Became a little too calculated for my blood after awhile. Plus the Mindy McCready thing kinda took the fun of it away. But it did serve to open me up to listening to the old school classic country which is about the only country I like these days.

My wife digs "new country" so she puts on CMT or the "country" Music Choice channel on a lot for background noise while we're cooking or cleaning house. I don't know enough of it to claim any kind of working knowledge of the genre, but I know a pretty face when I see one. Those videos always make me take notice.

But seriously, I've been eyeing this. Is it cornball or do they do it well?

Its basically Streets but with narration in between each song. The only other real change is Jesus Saves which is the original version, not the one that was on the original album. Its pretty much a completely different song. I actually think I like it a little more than the other version. Is the narration needed? Sometimes it was cool because it would tell a story about what was going on in the song. Others just kind of like introduced the song and those were pointless. Its still cool none the less. Its a great album and this is actually how it was meant to be released so it was interesting to hear it this way.
I still haven't watched the DVD yet or heard the other songs on the dvd. I actually might do it right now.

This
1. Astra - The Rising of the Black Sun (5:57) Demo version 2. Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats - Curse in the Trees (4:40) 3. Purson - Wool (4:55) First time on vinyl 4. Moss - BloodBong (7:26) Unreleased
Side Two
1. Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell - Robot Colossus (6:30) Unreleased 2. Blood Ceremony - New Day Yesterday (3:38) Unreleased Jethro Tull cover 3. Gentleman's Pistols - Personal Fantasy Wonderland (4:11) New exclusive track 4. Horisont - Wolf (3:26) Unreleased 5. Cathedral - Evil Wizard (6:34) Unreleased
That's a great tracklist of really hard or impossible to get tracks all on 180 gram vinyl. Released by Record Collector Magazine Ltd to 500 copies with no repress. I just had to, mostly as it's the first and only time this little gem has made it onto vinyl.

Yeah, I heard that Natalie had some kind of solo thing going. I wonder if the Dixie Chicks have split up? A year or two the other two Chicks (the sisters) did a record of their own under a different band name if memory serves.

They did, yeah. My wife has it. I saw a new album from them recently, too.
But this Natalie Maines disc is not very country. At least the samples make it appear so. It's more folk, in my opinion; more Fleetwood Mac than anything country.
