This describes me as well.
The world has moved on without me.....and I'm totally OK with it.
That pretty much sums it up!

Okay I just heard Device for the first time WHAT THE F*CK. They sound JUST like Disturbed in every way. They belong nowhere near Megadeth, although I suppose this could be highly relative at this stage.

You're just not able to see past the surface...that's OK. It's DEFINITELY a pop song...new mix and vocal, and it's straight up pop...Kelly Clarkson could do it.

Funny thing is, I saw Megadeth OPEN for Disturbed....

I agree it's not heavy metal, but I sure as hell wouldn't call it "pop music" either, they're earlier music was "post-hardcore" and "Melodic metal-core", now they're hard rock.
Nah, that is a pop song with some heavy sounding guitar. Nothing more.
This! Although, as far as pop songs go, it's grown on me. I quite like it.

• “Album of the Year” (presented by Orange Amplification): Deftones, "Koi No Yokan" -
• “Best Guitarist” (presented by Epiphone): John 5, of Rob Zombie - closest thing to a shredder without just giving it to Zakk
• “Best Drummer” (presented by Drum Workshop): Arejay Hale, of Halestorm - because he plays drums and Halestorm is popular
• “Paul Gray Best Bassist” (presented by Dean Markley): Lemmy Kilmister, of Motörhead - token
• “Best Vocalist” (presented by Rockstar Energy Drink): Corey Taylor, of Slipknot and Stone Sour - seriously? Should have been Lizzy Hale if you're going down that road...how did Hatelstorm's drummer get best drummer and she NOT get best vocalist?
• “Song of the Year” (presented by Affliction): Black Veil Brides, "In The End" - 5 Nikki Sixx look-alikes + Kelly Clarkson's songwriting team = "hit"
• “Best Live Band” (presented by Samson): Slipknot - did they even tour in 2012/2013?
• “Best New Talent” (presented by Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival): Device - if by "new" you mean the guy who's been in Disturbed for 15 years
• “Most Metal Athlete” (presented by Roadrunner Records): Triple H - dear god
• “Comeback of the Year” (presented by Eagle Rock): Tenacious D - dear god x2
• “Most Dedicated Fans” (presented by Xbox LIVE): HIM - 10 years ago, maybe?

I have absolutely no idea!
I'm from a generation where there was only one John 5, and he prefered to be called Johnny

I will say John 5...hot damn it, why can't these people use their full fricking name...John 5 is an amazing guitarist who belongs with Rob way more than Manson. He could use a different look, it's a bit douchey, but he really does command top notch technique and his speed is out of sight. I would say he deserves this award to some degree.

These are just lists to cater to the younger crowd with rock bands that are in vogue today. What else would one expect?

I've said it before that if metal ever gets to a state where the new stuff coming out appeals to a bunch of grouchy 40 something guys, the genre will be dead.
Sure some of the new stuff sounds crappy to my ears, but if kids dig it, and the spirit is still alive, then I'm cool with it. I didn't see many middle aged men at early thrash shows back in the day.

The mainstream stuff, I doubt will ever appeal to you. There is still plenty in the underground to interest the old school crew. At least the ones who don't require it to sound like 1983.

Yeah definitely, although at the moment I really don't require it to sound like 1983. I require it to sound like 1971!

Along with all that, I think I'm supposed to worship Metallica's Black album and embrace rap's marriage to metal. Cypress Hill is the bomb people!
Thanks, Boris, I'm finally beginning to comprehend an existential lifestyle.

In this case, it is a fact. The version of the song you're hearing does not sound pop because of how its being presented...loud guitars, some double-kick, and 5 guys who look like Nikki Sixx stunt doubles. That is just production. Strip that away to just the vocal melodies and the chorus hook, and it could be tailored to anyone from Taylor Swift to Daughtry. That chorus is 100% modern pop/rock to the core. Not saying its a bad thing...but its what it is.
